GOOD MORNING

Looks like taking it slow and easy is in order for today. That’s okay, I think, since Sasha, Clay, Josh, and Geoni have started packing for their December escapes from the land of construction noise!

I talked to one of the contractor’s foremen late yesterday. They need to grab some electrical thingy, then install that on Tuesday. The Phase I inspection happens Wednesday.

Micah and Jasmine are planning to get the keys on Friday! Since moving Dad two blocks away made me the expert on hiring moving companies, I set up a crew (standby, but very likely) for Saturday.

At some point, Micah, Jasmine, and Josh sat down and decided what furniture they wanted to move and what furniture AGI Stories, LLC would buy. That’s all worked out, now. They’ll move their bedroom set, but the rest was Micah’s grandmother’s so it stays.

Since a few of you have said you appreciate my weather reports, here’s the forecast for today and tomorrow. Cloudy, some rain, and temps around 80°F.

I think I’ll have some time to get a lot of writing done!

Well, I need to finish my coffee and get ready for church. See you later on!

AFTER CHURCH

We just left church and are heading to Dad’s house on Red Snapper for lunch. It will be one of Grammy’s ordeal-events, where she makes things overly complicated. She means well… that’s all I can say.

She is a good cook, but more and more, Dad’s having to step in to help. He told me he had to stir the spaghetti sauce because she kept forgetting. He also said he had to stir the fudge because her hands and shoulder—she said—hurt too much.

Plausible, given that she’s 88 now.

Today’s sermon was good. It was fitting for the AGI Stories team—it was about keeping God in your plans for your future. The preacher introduced it by saying it was a prequel for New Year’s resolution.

Geoni leaned over to me and whispered, “Oh, my! Too soon!”

But the message was good. The idea was that we shouldn’t run ahead making plans then go back and try to work our faith and beliefs into them afterwards.

I like that. It makes sense.

So that’s it for now. I’ll check in for a goodnight post, as I do, so see you then!

NEW GROWTH by Kirina Yung

Thanksgiving gave me a lot to think about. A lot has happened this year, and I’m satisfied with the journey. I have come a long way since I left the K-pop world at the end of 2023.

My year performing solo taught me that I have music in my head that might never air on a Top 40 station. I learned that making a living singing other people’s songs was fun—profitable to some degree. I met many people, but bonded with nearly none.

At the end of 2024, I decided to step back from all that. I was in Dallas and thought a visit to the coast would be nice. I wanted something quiet and Port Aransas caught my eye. It was the oasis I didn’t know I needed to find.

By April, I thought I was here to stay. On impulse, I bought a run-down gallery on Alister Street, envisioning a space devoted to the art of the sea—both classic and contemporary. I added a small coffee/tea bar with designer sodas à la the 1950s soda jerks and in one corner, a small stage for open-mic music and poetry readings. Everything about Sea Glass Gallery turned out better than I had imagined.

I learned to sail and bought a boat. I put a studio in one end of the cabin and have made music there. I have a catalog of niche ambient music and cues, and am making residuals off of many of them.

Every step of the 2025 journey has landed on solid ground for me. But, I say journey, because I am still moving forward.

As I look ahead, I see another change coming. Happenstance? Fate? Luck? Destiny? Guidance?

A mistake at sea in my boat introduced me to the people of AGI Stories. A sunny day at the marina introduced me to Eli Parks. I am drawn to both the group and the man.

Eli is a financial planner with an office in Port Isabel. AGI is located across the causeway in South Padre Island.

There are too many miles between here and there. It’s time my journey takes me south.

Monday, I’m calling a realtor. Sea Glass Gallery is ready to open a second location—one farther south.

GOOD NIGHT

Lunch was only about 80 percent of the ordeal I expected. The food was great, as predicted. Dad was coping, as usual.

After dessert, he pulled me to the side. “What did you think about the sermon today?”

“It was good,” I said.

“I want to talk to you about that. Maybe lunch tomorrow? My treat at Denny’s if you are up for it.”

“Always! Any time you want!”

I have a hunch he’s thinking about getting home health care to stop in to help Grammy when he’s at work. Possibly adding in someone to do the big cleaning things like vacuuming and moping. Just a hunch.

She does really well for eighty-eight. But she fixates on her medicines and keeping up with her appointments. Even if home health came just a couple times weekly, they could set up her meds for her—morning pack, night pack.

Dad has offered to do that, but she won’t let him. I think if a nurse did it, she’d accept it.

But! All that’s just a guess. And I suppose I’ll know tomorrow.

Now, it’s time to wrap up the day!

May your plans be guided by your faith and your beliefs, always aligning and moving you toward what is truly important.

Good night.

Be your best you!

AFTER CHURCH. We can only hope lunch is not an ordeal. You said she is a good cook, so it should be...good. Geoni is right: too soon to talk about New Year resolutions. But thank you for the message detail. Yes, a good message indeed. And sometimes harder to do than it sounds. Thank you for the post. Have a great afternoon. No ordeals.

NEW GROWTH. To Kirina: Thank you for telling us some of your past. You have a fascinating story. I am glad Sea Glass Gallery has turned out better than you expected. It is really great that you took a chance and it worked. Happenstance? Fate? Luck? Destiny? Guidance? I vote for all of the above. I think you are right. Sea Glass Gallery South will be a reality soon enough. Thank you for your post. Have a great day.
