AGI Stories content almost always appears on Patreon first, in advance of all other platforms. You get it first!

This vignette is part of an epic saga told by Richard Realtrekker on Instagram. His IG page is < @richard_realtrekker >.

Thanks!

Before Realmtrekker was done shaking hands with the rescued crew, the Forest Moon Technocrats were moving in on “Imagine What.” Its groans and creaks as the hull cooled and contracted sounded like the death throes of Caitlin Geven’s prized ship.

Geven had watched as they foamed the hull down with coolant and fire suppressant. She watched—even as Realmtrekker’s attention returned to the aftermath of the battle—as her ship was dragged onto a service skid and pushed into line to go into the repair hangar.

It didn’t take long. “Imagine What” was moved inside and a swarm of repair bots moved in. Geven knew the hull had been cracked on the flyby. She knew the shielding had failed. She didn’t know all the structural damage caused by clamping her ship to a derelict and riding it through re-entry as a shield.

Stabilizers were compromised. The emergency escape pod had melted and fused with the hull. Most of the batteries had been drained beyond recharge—or had flat out melted. The list was long, but the Technocrats were deliberate.

As repairs neared completion, Geven presented them with something she had salvaged. It was a rapid-firing ion cannon that she could mount aft. It would have a 180° vertical sweep and a 162.5° horizontal. She’d have to find a small auxiliary reactor to power it, but once rigged up, it would give anyone trying to chase her second thoughts.

It had taken a few days, but “Imagine What” was ready to get back to work. And so was Captain A. Caitlin Geven.

Be your best you!

"Thank You" Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just at $100 per month.

Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.

I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.

While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Again, thank you very, very much.
