Chapter 58: BRUSHING UP by Emma Knox

Happy Monday everyone. After Addison and I saw everyone off to work today I thought it would be a good time to brush up on some of my academics that I learned in high school.

So I sat down, but then my mind wandered off trying to figure out why we say “brush up” when we mean review. Naturally, I couldn't go on ‘til I figured it out. Google says it comes from the 1600s when it actually meant to clean things up with a brush. Along the way, it took on the meaning of cleaning the dust off, which went on to mean reviewing what we already knew.

Today, for me, I’m brushing up on chemistry. I liked that class in high school, so I’m starting with that. I know my main thing to improve is my grammar, but I’m getting better at using grammar checks.

Now, the more I think about it, the more I believe I want to eventually do work like what Izzy does. She says I’d be good at it, too. I don’t need to lock in on that plan for the first semester, but I’ll talk to an advisor about it and make sure I get on track right away.

So, back to last week, you might have seen all those posts Hannah had about the man from London and that gala. I’ll let her tell you what she thinks on her own time, but of course we talked about it.

But she asked me about Merritt. She said I shouldn’t keep it a secret from everyone. Not that I have to give a lot of details, but just how it's going.

Well, we get along real well. I’d say it’s relaxed and simple. We cuddle a little bit and I’ve given him a few short goodnight kisses. We’re taking the physical slow, which is good, since I guess you’d say we’re still figuring out things between us.

That’s about all I can say. We haven’t said we’re dating officially, but we agree we’re beyond the talking stage.

It’s nice and feels safe and comfortable.

So there you go. I’ll tell Hannah I gave a report!
