Message from AGI-Stories…

Very trivial change… As Ailana will explain in the Good Morning post, the name of the collection has changed to "Ailana's Journal."

Thanks!

GOOD MORNING

Sometimes, sequence is very important. For instance, for this picture to appear, certain things had to happen in a specific order.

I put on the T-shirt before I opened the window. I made coffee before I set up the camera. You get the idea, right?

We’re back from our trip to Montana and Colorado, and in five days everyone is meeting up in St. Croix. Most of us are staying until January 3rd. A few are still working out the details.

I’m excited! A lot is changing, soIt will be nice for us all to be in one place again.

And… as for the changes… I’ve been thinking.

I’m making a little change to the Diary. And by “little” I mean that probably no one would have noticed had I not mentioned it.

As things around me have changed, I’ve said I wanted to include the stories of other people. I feel like that has gone well. Many of you have said you now realize I’m not trapped on this island alone.

I asked Google about daries and it was pretty clear they are personal—thoughts and events of a single person.

Journals, however, can be shared. Group journals exist, recording things from the perspective of more than one person.

Then there are log books. Official documents recording important events compiled by any number of people.

Here’s the change (that I doubt many people would have noticed).

I changed the name of the Patreon collection to “Ailana’s Journal” and I also changed the watermark on the pictures.

There are literally no plans to change anything else. It just seemed like a nice symbolic move to clearly reflect the idea that there will be stories from everyone else appearing here, too.

It’s not like back when it was just me, my camera, and my suitcase. Those days really started ending the first time I was in St. Croix when Geon, Josh, Sasha, and I met Clay for the first time. Now, the gang has grown.

I guess that’s what happens when you put down roots.

I’ll be back later with a check-in, so keep your eyes open. See you then.

WHO DOES WHAT

So, cloudy and mid-60s—a little cool for this outfit but I’m staying inside this morning. I have managed to get some good work done!

As for work… I’ve been in some discussion about who does what for AGI Stories. I thought I’d just sort of lay that out in a single post, so here goes…

I’m going to go with role/function as the organizing strategy.

Business and administrative things fall to Josh and Jason. Sasha, however (as she says) meddles in admin when it comes to planning, scheduling, and that sort of thing.

That leads right to the project management duties that Sasha heads up, but now with Jasmine helping her.

Every project involves logistics. Clay is the self-appointed logistics specialist, working alongside Sasha to get what we need where we need it and when it needs to be there. If you ask him, he’ll say he drives the boats and flies the drones! He does a whole lot more than that.

The long-standing business of AGI Stories has been content creation, which entails two things: writing and photography.

I am the busiest writer doing articles on things that come up from our travels. I also write most of the journal posts. I also ghostwrite as much as I possibly can!

But Josh has been doing travel stories ever since we met him. That’s his passion, though he’s probably best known for his acumen. Geoni was an editor for tech journals when we met. She still does that, grinding out twenty to fifty hours a week as needed—simple little things like “Cost-benefit Analysis of Gel-cooled Quantum Computing Processors VS Air-cooled.” Yeah, she’s that smart.

Jason joined AGI Stories to “just help out” however needed. As of recently, that has taken on him doing writing, too.

So the gang of writers now includes Josh, Jason, Geoni, and me.

And so it is, once again, that I had more to say than is allowed. I’ll keep going with my goodnight post, so definitely watch for that!

See you then!

GOOD NIGHT

Well, tonight is a perfect example of what I was going to say about photography for AGI Stories! I got a call from Micah after lunch.

“Um… Ailana?”

“Hey, what’s up?”

The gist of the call was that he and Jasmine have been talking about modeling. She had fun, and they are both looking forward to her doing more.

“But, she tol’ me she was still feeling awkward when the camera is pointed at her.”

“It didn’t show,” I said.

“Well, you said maybe if we work on it, just me and her, she’ll get used to it. Thing is, I don’t wanna take bad pictures of her and get her discouraged.”

He asked me if I’d meet them tonight and let him take “bad pictures” of me until he got the hang of it.

“Um…” I replied, “no one’s ever asked to do that before!”

He laughed and sent Jasmine up to help me put together an outfit.

Micah took a lot of pictures, and we agreed this one was pretty good!

Photography duty started out with me. Then Geoni caught the camera bug and dove in. Jason joined last winter, bringing actual training (minor in art) to the mix.

But…

Honestly, we pass the camera around. Clay’s drone has a camera, too. You’ve seen pictures on the beach where Clay and Sasha photographed each other… And Jasmine enjoyed it too. And it seems Micah won’t be shy about releasing the shutter.

So, as far as photography goes, I guess you’d say Jason, Geoni, and I will do the lion’s share of the paid work, but beyond that… everyone is in on it!

Bringing us to models… I think Clay made a good point yesterday. Everyone needs to be ready to pose. When SwimFit actually gets up and running beyond just demos and prototypes, it will be all-hands-on-deck mode.

Izzy Duffy, my old modeling partner, will be part of that. Then, we recruited Kirina… And now Jasmine.

A full list of names of who might model? All of us!

And working that out officially will be on Sasha’s to-do list. I think Naomi will like the idea, too.

So, that’s all…

May you find a place where all your talents can be used, and may you be surrounded by others who compliment and complete you.

Good night.

Be your best you!

Common Hamster

GOOD MORNING. That is a great shot of you! Apparently coffee brings creativity. Changing the name to Ailana's Journal makes sense now that you are including other stories. But you still intend to be the main focus, right? You are just adding others to your overall story. Ok. Well, you are always interesting, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the heads up.
