Message from AGI-Stories…
Merry Christmas from AGI-Stories! Ailana's Journal will be the only post today. Besides wishes from Ailana, you'll get to hear from Vanessa Lenen—whose future in the Journal promises to be very interesting—and Ricky and Isabella Martinez, who you've met a few times recently.
Hannah's The Chosen post from the 23rd lets you know what's going on with the Brooklyn gang. Jordan's post in River City Connections on the 24th covers what those folk are up to.
As for you? May today be filled with joy and blessings. Thank you for being part of all of this!

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Today feels full in a quiet, steady way. It is today that Christians around the world officially celebrate the birth of Jesus. That’s what those of us here in St. Croix will be doing as well.
I’m here with Jason, Josh, Geoni, Clay, Sasha, Micah, and Jasmine, and we’ll be here together until January 3.
Eli and Kirina are heading out tomorrow—Eli is a financial planner and needs to get back for any end-of-the-year needs his clients might have.
As Kirina and Eli are leaving, Izzy Duffy and Kent Marlon will be arriving tomorrow. It’s one of those rare windows where paths overlap just enough to remind you how connected life really is. IIzzy, you know, is my friend from my modeling years. Kent is her significant other.
I hope today finds you surrounded by family, friends, and people who know your laugh and your stories. And if today finds you alone—by circumstance, by distance, or by choice—I want you to know that you still matter deeply.
Christmas is not a measure of how many chairs are filled around a table. It’s a reminder that love exists whether it is loud or quiet, near or far.
However you are spending today, I hope you give yourself permission to receive what the day offers—joy, rest, memory, or simply peace.
May you feel seen, even if no one is sitting beside you.May you feel loved, even if the day is quieter than you hoped.May you carry hope forward with you, gentle and steady.May you know you are not forgotten.
Merry Christmas.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MERRY by Vanessa Lenen
I’m in San Francisco with my family. We’ll have Christmas dinner tonight, but this morning we made the drive up.
It’s a beautiful city, and the holiday makes it quieter, more peaceful. We have no agenda other than to spend time.
On the drive up from Dixon, Mom and Dad asked about my work. Dad’s an electrician for the school district, so I told him about my battles with aging equipment and makeshift fixes. Mom asked a lot of questions.
Just before we got off the highway, she got to what she really wanted to know. “Any men in your life?”
“A lot,” I said. “Like half the patients we treated were men.”
“That is not what I meant, and you know it.”
I’ve not really had time for romance since I went to work for Health for Humanity. And I’ve tried to forget grad school and D. Charles Roger Whitworth, who wanted a trophy wife who’d stay home, mind the kids, and keep up with country club events.
I know they understand. That doesn’t keep Mom from hoping, though.
And that’s what I want to leave you with for Christmas…
There’s something wonderful about knowing that there are people who love you so much they want good things for you.
It’s my prayer that all of you reading this have people like that in your life.
Merry Christmas.
GOOD NIGHT
Merry Christmas and blessings! Christmas Day is coming to an end, and so begins the season of Christmas.
The liturgical calendar marks the twelve days after December 25 as the season of Christmas ending on January 5 and followed by Epiphany on January 6. That means today is the partridge-in-a-pear-tree day.
If you’ve followed my story, you know things for Ricky and me are financially tough. We sure won’t be buying birds and fruit trees.
Having my hours cut by a third scares us a lot. The holidays have been good for Ricky’s DoorDashing and next week probably will be, too. But we’re holding on to what we have and being really careful.
For Christmas, we did needs, not wants. I went to Walmart and got Ricky a pair of Wrangler jeans he can wear for work. He got me some nice hand cream that helps counter the effect of using hand sanitizer all day long.
For fun, we bought these T-shirts. Not exactly needs, but we can use them.
We have a lot of family in the area, so we had several invitations for Christmas meals. We brought home enough leftovers for the next day or so.
I want to leave you with a thought. It’s born out of our current money struggles, and some of you may think I’m just rationalizing a bad situation.
I’d like to think I’m keeping my perspective.
Christmas is celebrated with gifts that are symbols of God’s gift to humanity. A lot of thought and effort goes into the gifts, and I think that’s great.
But at the end of the day, even if the ends don’t meet, it really isn’t about what you have. In the end, it’s about who you have, and Ricky and I have each other. If we had all the money in the world, but didn’t have love, what would we really have?
Of course love doesn’t make the bills disappear, and I don’t pretend love replaces stability—but it does tell me what we’re standing on while we work toward it.
I’m sure some of you wish for love, and I wish it for you, too. All I can say is that whatever happens, Ricky and I are better together, and that comforts me.
Be your best you!
