Chapter 30: UP, UP, AND… THAT JUST HAPPENED by Kent Marlon
As planned, everyone was on the jet just before 6:00 p.m. NYC time. As planned, we were taxiing to the runway by 6:30 p.m. Now, as planned, we are bound for northern Africa to start our mission.
As probably-not-planned, the seating of the team came out in a surprising way. The Gulfstream has 2 seats in the most forward section and 8 in what Paul calls mid-cabin. With the addition of Will Robertson, there are 9 of us on this trip. Logically, 2 of us will sit forward and 7 in mid-cabin.
Hannah, Merritt, Mr. Robertson, Izzy, and I came just at six—everyone else came earlier so Paul could preflight the jet. When we entered, Emma and Noah were sitting in the forward section.
Emma stood up as we came aboard.
“We were waiting on you,” she said to Merritt.
Mr. Robertson scanned the plane and looked at Merritt. “Where do you want me to sit?”
Merritt made eye contact with Emma, then looked aft, where Jacob and Addison were sitting, then looked at Emma again, then said to Will, “If you want, you can sit with me… or…”
Will answered before Merritt finished, “That’s fine… lead the way…”
So, Merritt led Mr. Robertson to mid-cabin. Izzy, Hannah, and I followed.
For a second or so, Emma stood in the forward section watching. Then she turned back to Noah, shrugged, and sat down.
As Izzy and I moved by, she said to Noah, “Okay, back to what we were talking about… you were saying how the leaves in the fall back home were so colorful…”
Honestly, no one was upset. I was just surprised. Once we get airborne, I suppose there will be shuffling, and some of us will end up on the divans in the aft lounge. I know I’m going to grab a bunk in the rear quarters at some point.
Next stop—a country in Africa we aren’t supposed to name. The problem of clean water is bigger than one community in one country, so we want to keep things general.
Be your best you!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month.
At this time, most of that cost is being covered by Patreon members like YOU.
While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
I believe I have found ways to give you more exclusive content, while still making the site meaningful to visitors and passersby.
