STILL CHILLING by Cindi Curtis
Frozen stuff still falling… Now, it’s mostly ice/sleet, and another six hours of it is on the way, so they say.
Yesterday, the storm split for a while, leaving the Memphis area in a pocket of almost-nothing for a long part of the day. Still, the ground and roads are covered in inches of frozen stuff.
As for me, I actually had a great day. I didn’t lose power or the internet, so I sat on my air mattress and worked. At one point, I realized just how calm I was.
The last two months have been psychologically busy! New places, new routines, new future, new house, new partners in ClearStream, new shopping, new street names, new… new… new…
The working theory is that my brain was too busy dealing with new things that it didn’t have time to work up panic attacks that mattered! A week or so ago, I was in Michael’s Jeep on the north loop of I-40 and felt the onset of a panic attack.
I literally said, “I can’t panic now. I’ll die in traffic!”
I slowed down, tried to get over to the right, and by the time I managed to not get totaled by a 4X4 weaving in and out of lanes, the attack was over. I was freaking out about traffic, not some nebulous unknown. Call it a win.
But yesterday, it was me, an empty house, my work, and God.
At some point, a verse came to mind. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations” (Psalm 46:10, WEB).
That’s out of context, but it was no less satisfying to me…
Now, a quick backtrack to yesterday’s image. I got a message about not having my ring on. I can explain…
I dropped a K-cup into the sink and it defied the odds taking refuge INSIDE the garbage disposer. I took off the engagement ring to fish it out because I thought my left hand was better suited for the job. (I don’t know why.)
New ring habit not fully ingrained, I didn’t put it back on until I went back to the kitchen for a refill. Be assured, things with Michael and me could only be better if Bartlett and Memphis would plow the streets!
Be your best you!

Message to Paying Supporters:
If it feels like the plot in River City Connections has lulled a little, my response would be that you're not wrong. I've been watching the forecast for Memphis area unsure exactly what the characters would be able to do!
Therefore, I've sort of let them just settle into life. Cindi's posts reflect that, I think.
We've had a wild two months here in River City Connections! When Thanksgiving came to an end, Cindi didn't want Michael to leave. Since then… Looking back, I think a LOT has happened in a short period of time…
…especially in light of my attempt to keep thinks plausibly realistic!
If you are a close reader, you might rightfully ask about Roman and Hayes. They have navigated the margins of the storyline since their introduction. There have been only a few times they took the spotlight!
In the months to come, their arcs will come out more and more. I'd love your thoughts about what you've see so far!
Cindi almost instantly emerged in River City Connections as the—I can think of no other way to say it—main character. I don't plan on that changing, but I do want the others to show up more often. As I've said elsewhere, "Oh but for unlimited time…"
If I could do it—but I know I can't—each storyline would have multiple entries each day. For now, I will do my best to keep posting.
If you want to guide what is created, leave comments with questions. Ask for updates from the characters that most interest you! That would be a lot of fun for me!
Thank You
It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.
I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.
My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month.
Again, thank you very, very much.
