GOOD MORNING
Honestly, I have no idea where I left off last night. I think I was standing in the street trying not to get hit by a car!
The day dawned with light rain. It is supposed to clear up some later. Call it partly cloudy…
I have been up long enough to pass quickly through the bathroom, find a shirt and put it on, set up the camera, and take a picture. The smile is for you!
Inside, my brain is screaming: “Hey! Where’s the coffee!”
I’m going to ignore myself for a few more moments. I’m watching the rain with my ears, listening to its gentle tapping as if it were beckoning a schoolboy to come out and play. I can feel the cool of the glass on my shoulders—they say it is cool, but not cold; not in the context of northern winters.
And I can feel the ring on my finger. Without words, it makes a promise I was, for too long, afraid to accept. It declares that I have changed and that changes are coming.
I am beyond honored that you are sharing this change with me. Many of you have been with me long enough to tire of my delays! Now, you just have to wait for the passing days to arrange things for the wedding to happen.
We’re saying early June. Between now and then, we have work to do—including that trip to Korea. The days are counting down, but we are mostly ready.
But now, I should get to that coffee, a shower, and the day to come.
See you soon!

A STOPPING PLACE
I have made good use of the hours since my last post. Now, I find myself at a nice stopping place, which is good—I have a plan!
Kirina texted, asking what I was doing. I told her, then she said she was at Sea Glass Gallery—the new one in Port Isabel connected to our new studio—and wanted to know if I planned to come over today.
“I have something I’d like to show you,” she said.
I told her I’d come right after lunch (which will come right after this coffee and this post) and asked what it was.
“I’ve signed another lease. I found a house.”
When I think about that from her point of view, I know it is a big thing that will connect her to everything going on here in this southeasternmost corner of Texas. Eli Parks is here. AGI Creative is here. Her new gallery and sandwich shop is here.
Now, she will be here, too.
We left a door between the studio and the Sea Glass Gallery with the very intention that we’d frequent her shop often. The door is right by where the sitting/viewing area will be.
Since the first time we met, I’ve felt comfortable with Kirina, and gradually we’ve grown closer. We’ve had some nice talks—especially when she was in St. Croix with me.
Today, I’ll tell her about the ring! About the wedding that sits on the horizon of my future.
And she will show me her new home. I can’t wait!
I’ll be back tonight with some sort of post to wrap up the day, so watch for that…
See you then!
NEW ROOTS by Kirina Yung
Often, I find myself stopping to ask where I am, how I got here, and where I want to go next. 2025 was a year of growth for me, and I honestly think those changes are far from over.
I will be twenty-six on March 3 this year. Many of you would tell me that I’ve barely even begun to change! I know ten years from now, I will look back knowingly and surely will agree.
Thirteen months ago, as 2025 began, I stopped to reset. I landed quietly in Port Aransas looking for roots that would hold me and meaningful ways to pass time. I learned to sail and bought Sea Glass, a Dana 24. It taught me many lessons—one being that there is music in the sea wind and waves. My music changed from what others would buy to what gave my own soul satisfaction.
I opened a small gallery focusing on coastal art and added a coffee and sandwich bar to it. It became an extension of my peace-finding, my meaning-making efforts.
Looking back, I have no regrets. But all of that was incomplete. My roots were shallow and I was growing alone.
As the year ended, a minor mishap at sea crossed my path with that of the people at AGI Creative from South Padre Island. I saw something I wanted to be a part of. I reached out and they reached back.
I also met Eli Parks, a financial planner from Port Isabel. Our growing relationship served to clearly show just how shallow my Port Aransas roots were.
Now, a year after I stepped away from being a performer, I am putting down new roots. I have leased a location for a second Sea Glass Gallery. And I have leased a new home—here on the bay.
The gallery is connected to the AGI Creative studio, just as I have become connected with Ailana and the others who will work there. And Eli is going to rent a home just down this same street.
So, in 2026 I will continue to grow. But now, I will not grow alone.
GOOD NIGHT
It was not easy to drag Jason to this side of the camera lens. Tonight, I wanted to let you see what I have meant so many times when I’ve said, “Jason and I had dinner then hung out for a while.”
Moments like this feel like what I have grown to think the ending of a day should feel like. And as I think about the future, I cannot picture it any other way.
Even as I share this, I know a few of you are smiling with me. You’ve urged me ever toward making a life with Jason. Many of you have said you were “in Jason’s corner” as he waited for me to align my thoughts in a healthy way.
Does putting on the ring change everything? Fundamentally, no.
Our lives go forward as we deal with the rapidly changing details of our work. We have to go to the store. I, at least, need to do laundry. Jason and Dad need to tackle a faucet replacement in Jason's kitchen.
But the ring is a symbol of a promise, a promise that when fulfilled in a few months will mean something qualitatively transformative.
Our lives go forward, not as two distinct people who love each other, but as husband and wife, united by a covenant. We will march through the routines, the surprises, and all that is life—together.
Many of you have waited months for us to get to this promise. You’ll need wait only a few more to see the promise completed.
Coming soon, to a June near you: Ailana Caitlin Geven to marry Jason David Keller.
OMG! I just realized… I’ll have to change the watermark on the pictures!
It will be worth it.
May you find joy in all that you do. May you prosper greatly, becoming able to give back to others who are in need.
Good night.
Be your best you!
