GOOD MORNING

I went to bed with over 3 inches of ice/snow/sleet on the driveway. It did get up to a few degrees above freezing yesterday. Anything that softened or melted is now rock hard!

Solitude is nice. Quiet is nice. I have no problem with that.

However, I am weary of having nothing to sit on. I need—and I thought a lot about whether to say “need” or “want”—my desk and chair. Sixteen hours (Monday and Tuesday) of trying to work without a desk have exhausted me.

And, yes, I’ve worked for hours standing in the kitchen—but the counter is a little low, which induces stooping. Between the two, I’m getting the work done. End of topic.

I had a thought about sustainability that I wanted to share. Nothing profound…

Close the vents in the rooms you don’t use and keep the doors closed. Caveat: consider whether you have pipes in any of those exterior walls first. Even with vents closed, some heat will get into the room. But much of the heat will go into the rooms that are occupied.

Let’s say this saves 10% of heating energy… That, times millions and millions of homes, adds up to a nice reduction of waste!

I sincerely believe taking care of the world is an expectation God has for us.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1).

All we handle—homes, money, skills, time—belongs first to God. We are managers of God’s resources, called to be faithful stewards (1 Corinthians 4:2).

When daily choices reflect care instead of waste and service instead of self, God’s grace flows outward. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another” (1 Peter 4:10).

Stewardship is worship in action.

So set the thermostat a little lower, add a layer, and close some vents. Just my opinion…

And now for me? I'm looking for some melting today! Maybe? Maybe?

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:

It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.

I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.

With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.

My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month.

Again, thank you very, very much.
