ON ICE by Cindi Curtis

It’s 21°F outside and the ground—and the roads—are covered by around 4 inches of snow/sleet topped off with about ½ an inch of ice. Important emphasis: and the roads.

You can walk across the top of it and not break through. It even has the sound of walking atop a frozen puddle or pond.

Michael and I are living via FaceTime again. Jordan calls about every three hours—because she’s worried about me and she’s bored. She’s busy with ClearStream work, but I guess it’s clear that she’s not really the type to embrace staying in.

Like I said, I’ve found my completely minimal situation to be a nice reset for me. It feels like I’ve shaken off a few layers!

And, overall, this experience has given context to my crazy visit to the store on Friday afternoon. Changing my understanding of what the snowy weather meant has completely changed my understanding of the shopping experience.

I think there’s a generalizable lesson there. Our beliefs, perceptions, and understanding are the soil from which our thoughts grow. Me, not knowing that the roads would be impassable for days, I had no idea what was going on at the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

New information in—new understanding out.

I’ll wrap up with a verse Michael and I shared this morning for our devotional time.

“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” (Proverbs 18:15, NIV)

Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:

It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.

I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.

With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.

My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month.

Again, thank you very, very much.
