Chapter 61: VISIT FROM SHAY by Emma Knox

Hannah come in last night after going for pizza with Shay and Devon telling me all about what happened. I gotta say, I really feel for Shay.

Well, it ended up that Shay wanted to come over here today to visit with Izzy and Kent. Hannah told me she said at the end of the night that she was starting to feel like she was a prisoner in her house over in West Village.

So that’s what happened. About an hour ago, Shay and two guards—Eric who’s a little friends with Kent and a guy Hannah met last night, Conner—came in. I was in the common room.

Eric nodded and Conner took off over to the hall with the dorms, checking it out like some spy movie. Meanwhile, Shay went to Izzy’s door and knocked and Devon come from his room with Kent.

I see why Shay feels frustrated.

So Eric sat with Kent, Izzy, Devon, and Shay and Conner looked around the room, then went to a place we have some tables and sat down. I had a tray of muffins from earlier, so I went to see if he wanted one.

I offered him the tray. “Why’d you sit way over here?”

He took one. “I can see the whole room plus the stairs from here.”

I sat down with him, on account he seemed nice and I didn’t like the idea of him being lonely. He asked who I was and I told him, then Hannah came out and joined us.

“So, did she settle down any after you dropped me off?” Hannah asked.

He shook his head. “She wants to…”

I could see he was hunting for words, then he just shrugged and said, “…disappear. Like a witness protection program, but… private.”

Hannah shook her head. “Is that possible?”

“Another guard, Cole Pryce… former FBI. He’s going to talk to Eric’s boss up the ladder for Ryder Family Protective Services… We’re a separate company Mr. Ryder owns for liability reasons. But she’s about to kidnap Devon, jump on her motorcycle, and head south if we can’t talk her off the ledge.”
