VALENTINE’S DAY DINNERS by Cindi Curtis

Happy Valentine’s Day from Bartlett It’s early, but Michael and I are ready to eat!

We stayed in. Chef Michael was in charge of food—more on that to come.

I ordered a folding table and chairs from Amazon. I might need to slow down and pay better attention to those drop-down boxes. This time, I got the size wrong—I’m not really sure why anyone would need a 24-inch (or whatever size I got) square table, but it’s going to work just fine. Michael slid around for the image.

Dinner is one of those “this is what we had in the kitchen—we will make it work” affairs.

Michael made pan-seared chicken with roasted potatoes. I steamed a little bit of broccoli that we’re pretending is for balance. Michael tossed the potatoes in olive oil, parsley, salt, and pepper.

The iced tea is a constant. Two tall glasses, too much ice, and slightly too strong because I forget how long I let it steep.

The candle makes it look intentional. The folding table makes it honest.

Tonight feels like “we live here now.” And it won’t be too long before that’s completely true!

Earlier this week, Michael came up with the dinner-here-not-out plan. He acknowledged that everything would be crowded and possibly hurried tonight, and offered that we could stay in and not make me push through the anxiety.

Meanwhile Roman and Hayes—now engaged, ring on finger—are in Bora Bora, while Carter and Jordan went downtown to The Peabody for Chez Philippe! I’m sure they are having a great time.

A few minutes ago, Michael said after we eat, we could ride around and look at the decorations and lights. It took me about half a minute to realize he was making a Christmas joke.

But I do think we are going to brave a ride to a Sonic for ice cream delivered to the car. Even if it is busy and chaotic, we’ll just be sitting in the Jeep.

A little note: I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have him help plan around my disorder. He’s giving me a life beyond the walls of my house, but keeping me safe.

That… is amazing.

Be your best you!

VALENTINE’S DAY DINNERS by Cindi Curtis. Thanks for the details. It sounds like a terrific dinner! And, Cindi, a 24 inch card table is perfect for 4 people playing spades...or having a romantic dinner for 2. Ice cream at Sonic is always good. And Chez Phillipe! Carter is no slouch. Bringing his A game there. Nice! Is it Valentine's Day in Bora Bora? Doesn't matter. When you're newly engaged, as you know, every day feels like Valentine's. Thanks for your update. Have a great evening.
