GOOD MORNING

The big question is… can I get enough work done so that I can still enjoy lunch at Sea Glass and maybe even have some downtime?

By now, I’m sure some of you are thinking, “Enough already… do something interesting…” I understand that. But over the nearly two years since I’ve started sharing my life here, there have always been periods of reset between the road trips and airplane flights.

There’s a lot going on under the hood right now, and not all of it involves me directly.

Sea Glass opens today (and there’s a place across the street called Shoreline Health and Wellness that Kirina says opens today, too).

There’s some near-future secret-Sasha adventure in the works.

Josh and Geoni are in the middle of an adoption process.

Clay and Sasha are revamping their ideas for SwimFit.

Naomi Prior is in the midst of ramping up her quick response content business, and AGI Creative is her go-to provider.

In the months to come, I have that wedding thing in June. YIKES! After that, there’s the early thinking about a Route 66 road trip!

I’m sure other things will come up along the way—they always do.

So thank you for being part of the story. Your kindness and support are amazing.

Next stop for me today is my laptop followed by lunch at Sea Glass. See you then!

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Sea Glass Port Isabel is open! The whole AGI gang is here (except Micah, who is at work at the Dodge service center) and everyone is very, very happy!

Officially, we are at Sea Glass Gallery Sandwich and Coffee Shop—Port Isabel. It has been called SGGCSS, and that’s pretty cool. Mostly, I’ll probably just go with the two-syllable “Sea Glass” descriptor!

Let me see if I can give you an overview. Think Starbucks and Subway had a child, and add in paninis. That’s a good start!

The breakfast menu has an amazing variety of muffins, plus fresh-baked biscuits (sausage, cheese, and/or egg optional) and breakfast burritos.

Lunch offers up subs, paninis, and sandwiches on just regular slices of bread like you’d get at home. The meats, cheeses, vegetables, and fixings include the standard sub shop selections.

If you’re not in a big hurry, you can get a microwave-baked potato! Then you can put all the meats, cheeses, and vegetables you want on that.

They also have dessert muffins, cookies, and cakes.

Now, place all that into a location that features gallery-style exhibits…

Eli took today off to be part of her soft-opening day. If you ask me, he’s about as excited about it as Kirina is.

That’s Sea Glass.

I’m pretty sure we’re all going to love this place! And I hope you will, too. If you’re interested in more details, let me know and I’ll have Kirina tell you how it all comes together.

DO YOU DELIVER? by Min Aurora

Wouldn’t you know it? The very day Shoreline Health and Wellness opens, the sandwich shop across the street also opens! This nurse is pretty happy about that!

The owner, Kirina Yung, greeted me with a big smile. “I’ve been watching you guys getting ready to open. How’s it going?”

I smiled. “Mostly good. We thought we had it all worked out, but one of the nation’s biggest insurance providers has hit the pause button. Not sure why.”

“What did they say?”

“Not much. Something like, ‘Approval for application to be network provider on hold pending.”

“Pending what?” Kirina asked.

“We’re not sure yet.”

“Maybe someone just needs to check a box?”

I nodded. “Honestly, given the workings of the insurance world, it could be that some dude named Tom is on vacation, and he has the magic password.”

She laughed, then said, “Well, I hope it works out. What can I make for you?”

I scanned the menu. “I’ve got a couple of orders… I don’t suppose you have hot dogs?”

Kirina shook her head. “Didn’t think of that!”

I had the fleeting thought to offer to buy her one of those gas station hot dog rollers just so she’d put it on the menu. Maybe another time…

I went to my list and ordered subs for Amir, Anika, Isabela, Vanessa, and myself. None of it was complicated, but I had it on my phone anyway. I ordered chips to go with it.

“Do you deliver?” I asked.

“Getting that set up is on the to-do list. But I’d love it if you and the others came in, too. Get away from the clinic sometimes for a little respite.”

“I think that sounds like a great plan.”

I paid for the order as she prepared it and then headed back to the clinic. Maybe next time, I’ll bring up the hot dog roller idea…

GOOD NIGHT

Wasn’t sure how to dress for this beach walk. It’s windy and dark, but the temperature is in the low 70s°F. Sometimes you just have to make a decision and go with it. I went for a hoodie and t-shirt…

I hesitate to say the “R” word, but it is what it is. Today, aside from the visit to Sea Glass, was routine.

If there was anything out of the ordinary, it would be that Jasmine left after lunch to meet Kaylee for some time on the beach while Hudson slept. I’m not keeping score or anything, but that’s two days in a row!

If I let myself slip into detective mode, I might wonder what’s going on. I guess you could imagine me putting on a Sherlock Holmes hat and “tailing her” next time! If there is a next time…

If I just accept it for what it is, I’d say Jasmine and Kaylee are becoming friends. And let’s be clear… I’m about the very last person on earth to judge someone for hitting the beach on a sunny day with a temperature near 80F!

Now that I think about it, maybe I need to check tomorrow’s forecast!

This seems like a good place for me to stop rambling. Let’s call it a day.

May good fortune follow you and all those around you. May blessings arise from your efforts and may prosperity be always your companion.

Good night.

Be your best you!

GOOD MORNING. Good morning to you. Okay, but for my part, it's all interesting. Slice of life, I believe you often say. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes not. As you also say, lots of stuff on the board. I'm patient. It will all get here. Enjoy your lunch and have a good day.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Of course we want more details! This place sounds awesome! I have to grudgingly admit that, just Sea Glass is, um, better than SGGCSS. Upon further examination, the latter does sound more like a military acronym than a sandwich shop abbreviation. And it lends itself to expansion. Sea Glass Port Isabel, Sea Glass Corpus Christi, etc. I love the matching polos. Excellent work, Kirina, that menu is terrific. Come for the food. Stay for the art. Thanks for the update. I wish you much success!

DO YOU DELIVER? by Min Aurora. You chose a wise location. I'm sure Isabela will figure out the insurance. Meanwhile, you all will have a great lunch. I think I foresee many more to come. Enjoy.

GOOD NIGHT. Some days are going to be routine. I've said before, even James Bond just played golf sometimes. Jasmine and Kaylee are bonding. At some point, I predict she will be comfortable enough around the AGI team to do some modeling of her own. The weather there sounds terrific. Thanks for the bonus photo. I bid you goodnight. 🌙.
