WEDDING PLANS by Jordan Warner

Besides me, who’s counting down the days to Cindi’s wedding? Also, besides Cindi and Michael of course. And Carter. And Roman, Hayes, the parents, Michael’s brother and sister… Besides all of us? What I’m getting at is—are you?

I’m sure most of you know Cindi has a fairly serious anxiety disorder that sometimes manifests socially. Sometimes she can just be looking in the silverware drawer, but we’re not concerned about that—no cutlery drawers needed for a wedding.

I told Cindi not to worry about planning the wedding. Take that worry off her plate and let her just be the bride. I came up with an idea, talked to her mom, and developed a plan.

No, I’m not telling you what it is. It’s her magical day, and she deserves for it to unfold to you when it happens.

I will tell you that besides the minister, the only people who will be there were mentioned in the first paragraph! I’ll also tell you that the venue will be a small reception area at a church.

So how do you do a wedding where the bride is the center of attention without it pushing her anxiety into warp drive? Her mom, Elaine, and I think we have an idea.

Here are some ideas that I decided not to tell anyone about—until now.

ZOOM WEDDING: Cindi, Michael, and the minister are alone at the altar. Everyone else watches on a screen.

REVERSE WEDDING: Everyone sits at the front of the church facing forward. Cindi, Michael, and the minister stand at the back of the church facing the opposite direction.

DOUBLE REVERSE: Everyone sits at the back facing the back, and the wedding party stands in the front facing the front.

MIDNIGHT IN THE BUNKER: Wedding conducted in total black-out darkness (think bank vault dark!)

…I had some bad ideas, too.

I know everyone loves Cindi as much as I do, and I hope you all are looking forward to the ceremony. Then, they are off to Arkansas for the honeymoon. March 21! Save the date!
