GOOD MORNING
How have you liked the longest sea leg of our journey? We’re scheduled to make Mobile later this afternoon. Think it will be okay if I don’t stand on the bow and yell “Land ho!”?
My plan for today is to lock in and get as much work done as possible. The more I do today, the less I’ll have to do tomorrow when we are planning to go to shore.
Just in case you missed a detail, the purpose of this trip is to get notes and pictures for future content. That means we are actually working and not just vacationing. Honestly, though, sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference.
This morning, I need to ghost-write some dialogue for that science fiction author I work for. Things are getting crazy! He’s trying to kludge together a series of megajoule interfaces between his reactor and his thruster since he can’t get the parts he actually needs! I’m tasked with fluffing up the chapter with some good dialogue.
I’m also planning to make lunch for the gang today. I’m picking up where Clay left off with sandwiches!
In the meantime, I hope you have a great Thursday morning. See you soon!
CHEF EATS LAST
I’m not sure if I made that up or if it’s a real rule. Does anyone know? Taste-testing doesn’t count…
Today’s lunch depleted the last of the bread, so it looks like we’ll all perish now. Our only hope is that we’ve been arcing north enough this morning to say we’re following the coastline to the east! Perhaps we’ll reach Mobile before starvation overcomes us.
(Honestly, I don’t know why you all put up with me! But I do know I’m very grateful!)
Seriously, that was the last of the bread. And also seriously, we should pull into the marina in a few hours. Clay said there’s a lot of traffic, and we’ll probably drop the sail some and use engine power so maneuvering will be easier.
Without the sail, Savannah’s Charm can cruise at around 7 knots. That will drag out the last of the trip a little, but we’ll still get there this afternoon. Better to take a little longer than to crash into an oil tanker or a cargo ship!
That means I’ll be able to get back to my MacBook and keep working for a while. I’ll check in later, of course! Have a great afternoon!
LAND IN SIGHT by Jasmine Banks
Hello everyone. As you can see, I haven’t been eaten by sharks! Micah and my first voyage has gone well!
We knew we had a lot to learn moving into our stateroom back on Monday. We just accepted that we’d go slow and watch what everyone else did.
Sasha and Clay had come over on Sunday night to help us make packing decisions. I think we brought enough, and maybe just a little too much.
It’s crazy how the staterooms are built. Everything has a purpose—many of which are storage. Under the bed. Over the bed. Everywhere possible are lockers.
This morning, we dropped the sail and just drifted for a little while. Sasha wanted me to experience being in the water out here, so we put on lifejackets and slipped in off the back where there’s some swim platforms.
It was a little scary. Micah joined us, too.
Sasha said if there ever happened to be an emergency, we’d put on lifejackets, so it was just so I’d know what it would be like.
I’m not a great swimmer yet, and may never be, honestly. But I think I could stay above water for a few minutes if I didn’t panic. Ailana said at some point we should find a shallow area and just play around—like jumping off the deck and swimming to the ladder. We’ll see about that!
Anyway, so far, everything has been great. And we’re just getting started.
GOOD NIGHT
As planned, we hit the marina fairly late this afternoon. Clay and Sasha organized a quick clean-up and maintenance of the boat, then we all showered and headed to dinner.
Dinner tonight was a bit of a long walk from the marina, but it was nice to stretch our legs. We went to Bama Bob's BBQ, which is worth looking up just to see what it looks like. The eight of us jammed in and loved everything about it!
Now, we’re back aboard Savannah’s Charm, and the plan is that we’ll spend Friday and Saturday taking in Mobile. We’ll sail out Saturday evening and start bouncing westward.
Tomorrow, Clay will see to having Savannah’s Charm’s wastewater tanks emptied, refueling, and prepping her for the next voyage. Micah is all-in on being part of that.
Everyone gets along with everyone, but Clay and Micah gravitate more toward engines, switches, and the like. You might recall they shared some outings in St. Croix that included a visit to an axe-throwing range.
I’ll be honest… I don’t mind helping pump out the blackwater tank. It has to be done. Micah seems actually interested in understanding how it all works and Clay seems happy to explain it.
As a little glimpse of his excitement, when I was in the sun lounge with him and Jasmine, he looked at me and said, “I was just piloting a million-dollar yacht. Like all by myself. When I tell my cousins, they’re gonna call me a liar.”
Now that we are in the marina for a few days, he wants Clay to walk him through the engine bay and all of the electrical systems. Like I said, Clay seems really happy about doing that.
Well, there’s popcorn to be made and movies to be watched, so I’ll wrap up.
May you find new horizons that inspire you to learn more and empower you to do more.
Good night.
Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet connectivity fees) AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month. Every supporter is helping!
I fully believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the creative process and offer encouragement. I’m honored by that and genuinely moved.
I realize that I share a lot of content free to everyone. I imagine most of you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping others feel like they shouldn’t be locked behind a pay-wall, and some plot moments need to remain accessible for anyone following the larger narrative.
With that in mind, I always keep you—the paid members—in mind when deciding how to share things.
I hope that reserving a few photos and small sections of each post for you serves as a modest expression of my gratitude.
Again, thank you very, very much.
