GOOD MORNING

Let’s call this image a reprise of something that was embarrassing earlier. But I took this one myself.

I’m not trying to go into some deep psychology about the difference. However, I actually did some digging around on Google. Interesting… Stuff about planning ahead versus being surprised. Stuff about how walking into the saloon wrapped up was on my terms while Jason walking into my “intimate sleeping space” caught me off guard.

Let’s just agree that the human brain—the psyche, if you will—is complex and confusing.

Today, we sail for Gulfport, Mississippi. It’s about 65 miles away, but we should be able to make it in around eight hours. The plan is to dock before sunset and walk somewhere to dinner.

If you’ve forgotten, Jason’s parents live in Gulfport. Jason, Josh, Geoni, and I are going to crash with them for a couple nights and use their home as a base of operations from which we’ll explore the area and take notes.

Clay, Sasha, Jasmine, and Micah are going to stay aboard Savannah’s Charm. Their plan is to spend two days nailing down details for SwimFit. You can expect a report! I’ll see to that!

I need to get up and help get ready to shove off. Clay prefers that we are up, dressed, and somewhere we can sit while navigating in and out of marinas and around navigation chokepoints.

At six knots, we’re moving around ten feet per second. If something comes up and the yacht has to suddenly change direction, our bodies (thanks to Newton’s Laws) want to keep going straight. Being seated most of the time when potentially facing abrupt maneuvering makes Clay feel better (and keeps us all safer).

That said, I need to get up, get dressed, and get to the galley. I have breakfast duty today!

BLAME MICAH

First off, we’re making good progress and all that… Ahoy and tally ho!

Micah, Jasmine, and I were in the saloon looking at the cameras and talking about the (many!) different settings. I suggested that Micah shoot the picture for this post.

He did, then said, “Okay, do something not boring.”

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I guess three pictures are pretty much an essay!

I actually have no idea where to go with this post now. I suppose I can just close out…

I’ll be back later with more, so watch for it! Meanwhile, have a great day.

HOW ABOUT THIS? by Kirina Yung

Things at Sea Glass might have just taken a turn. For the better.

My lunch customers had left and I was cleaning up when I looked up to see a DoorDash driver I recognized—Ricky Martinez—coming in. I was a little confused because I didn’t order anything and didn't have any orders.

“Are you picking up for DoorDash?”

“Not exactly. My wife, Isabela… you met her… she works at the clinic. I’ve got seven orders for them… to go…”

He gave me the orders and I started making them. “This will take a few minutes.”

“No rush… How’s business?”

I told him that the soft opening has been going well. I’ve only been opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are long days, but all I can manage alone.

“But I’m starting to get repeat lunch customers, so that’s good. I’ve also got everything set up with DoorDash and Uber Eats. Not much happening there yet…”

“That will come when you’ve got regulars who can’t come in.”

I nodded, kept making sandwiches, and asked, “Do you have another job besides Dashing?”

“I don’t…”

He explained that he’d worked in a warehouse that closed after a fire and couldn’t find anything since then. “Back in Houston, I worked in retail. Big sporting goods store. I was in the management track, then COVID hit and that went by the wayside.”

“That’s rough,” I replied.

“Well, I just remind myself that running hot water puts me ahead of a lot of people in the world.”

I smiled. “Management track in retail and an attitude like that… You should be able to find something.”

“I don’t have much time to look,” he said.

And then I knew.

“What if you didn’t have to look?”

“What do you mean?”

I stopped what I was doing. “What if you started working here? Then I could open full days. We could work things out this week and have a grand opening… I don’t know… soon. What do you think?”

He stared at me. Rarely have I ever made a man cry before just now.

He looked down, smiling while tears ran down his face. “When do I start?”

“After you deliver these sandwiches to the clinic?”

GOOD NIGHT

Made it to Gulfport as planned. Now? How about Shaggy's Gulfport Beach for dinner?

It’s all ashore for this one!

The menu is so big, the Google Maps logo covers part of it! We’re pretty sure we aren’t going to be disappointe

d.

Jason took slightly longer than zero seconds to decide on the Captain’s Seafood Platter. Jasmine and Micah chose the Platter for 2 version. I’m trying the redfish…

With this stop, we make a few changes to the norm. From here, we split up for a couple of days.

I said earlier that those of us who primarily create content are heading to Jason’s parents’ house for the next two nights. Clay, Sasha, Jasmine, and Micah will stay aboard Savannah’s Charm and work on SwimFit.

And they have agreed to pull back the curtain and let us see what’s in the works!

On the 20th, we will set sail again and head west. I’ll share details as we get to that.

Meanwhile, it’s time to close this diary entry and say good night.

May life present you with menus full of options, all of which are desirable, and may you have the wisdom to choose the ones that lead you most directly toward your goals.

Good night.

Be your best you!

Another image of Ailana, the message, and thank you that follow are exclusive to supporters…

Message to Paying Supporters:

I like sharing little behind-the-scenes notes like this with supporters from time to time, so I thought I'd do so today. Here goes…You may have noticed that Ailana's Journal is still growing. As many of you know, I work out ideas for plot arcs several months in advance.

For instance, Ailana's wedding in June has been in the works since early 2025! Ricky's job with Sea Glass was planned at the same time I planned for Kirina to open a location in Port Isabel. Isabela's job with the clinic was planned at the same time I shut down the Health For Humanity storyline and started moving the cast to Texas.

Naturally, I'm still looking ahead. There are a few big plot points that are far from resolved within what's been written.

And on Sunday and Monday, I dropped in a couple of chapters introducing Brooks and Mateo. Yes, indeed, there are plans for them! Your guesses (which are likely right) are welcome!

As I said elsewhere, I want the world of Ailana's Journal to feel real and alive. I think characters like Naomi, Elias, David, and others extend the world, giving you a sense that Ailana isn't alone. She's surrounded by people with faces, names, and personalities.

Also, let's be real… Do you see Geoni and Josh trimming hedges and sweeping the driveway? And somebody has to actually work at Whataburger!

So, there you go… One of the IG readers likes to say something like this: “It's great how the Ailana-verse feels so real and alive!”I hope you agree!

P.S. I wish I had back half the time I spent trying to space out the ovals in the collage! Next time (if there is a next time), I think I'll have to just go with rows and columns!

And as always…

Thank-You:

It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.

I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.

With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.

My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet connectivity fees) AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month. Every supporter is helping!

Again, thank you very, very much.
