Chapter 51: HE LISTENED by Kent Marlon
After breakfast in the common area,Merritt and I ended up with the room to ourselves. Everyone else had retreated to showers to get ready for church.
“You wanna go first?” Merritt asked—we share a bathroom.
“Sure… but let me bring something up first.”
“What’s up?”
“You know I get you. In a lot of ways I admire you. So, I’m saying this as what it looks like, not what it is.”
“I admire you, too, you know.”
“So, I’m not going to beat around the bush… If I’m new to the room, it looks like you’re playing the field.”
“The field?” Merritt furrowed his brow and shook his head.
“Just this week… One night, pizza date with Olivia. Subs with Liza… Neighborhood walks with Chloe. It looks like you’re trying to figure out who you want to date.”
I think I could have knocked him over with a feather.
I went on and said, “I know you’re just a really nice guy. In your defense, you also took Noah to the café and spent half the night showing Jacob around over at Phase II. I know you’re just a nice guy. I’m saying how it would look to a stranger.”
Merritt nodded. “Well, for you to bring it up, it must look like something to you, too.”
“A little. But again, I know your heart. I can see what you’re doing because of that.”
Merritt looked out the window, then back at me. “Okay, I hear what you’re saying. I do like the company. I’ll spare a laundry list of who and why. I’ll add two things. First, I’m not thinking about a romantic relationship with any of them. And second, I’m pretty much not going to stop being nice.”
“I hear you. Just be sure you’re nice enough not to lead anyone on.”
He inhaled so much that I was afraid all the air would be gone, then he said, “Okay… didn’t think about that. I hear you.” He paused, like something had just shifted. “Yeah… I don’t want to be that guy.”
I nodded, but didn’t add anything.
He smiled and pointed toward the shower. “Thanks for calling me out.”
Chapter 52: SEE ROCK CITY? by Mara Voss
We’ve had a nice little visit in the Nashville area. We hopped around different hotels and motels, ate at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast twice and for dinner once. Maybe a few too many fast-food lunches.
Tomorrow, we mount up! We decided we can brave the mid-60s temperatures and get on to Chattanooga. We should probably try to share a few pictures. It’s a gorgeous area.
Nashville has been great, too. Everything with Evan and me has been really good.
Now that we’re not pretending to date and also not pretending to not date, everything feels different. I can’t exactly explain how it feels, but it definitely isn’t the same.
We’re doing the same things… holding hands… hugs… even cuddles… We kiss good night when he walks me to my room.
The behavior is pretty much the same. It just feels different.
And we both agree that it’s better.
Be your best you!

It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.
I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.
My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
