Chapter 56: BEYOND MIDTERMS by Caleb Hastings
You might wonder why a comp sci major is in the library. There’s a reasonable explanation.
My twin sister, Chloe, the criminal justice major, likes to study here. Call me hard-headed, but I prefer that she not walk around the city—or even the campus—all by herself.
We both started at NYU last fall and share an apartment near Union Square. Coincidentally, our brother Logan works here in New York City, and he introduced us to a girl around our age whom he worked with.
When second semester started, Chloe and I thought we had figured life in grad school out well enough to have time to expand socially.
Let me vaguely say—if you’ve been following everyone’s stories, you’ll know why—that we were introduced to a group of people who live at the Crossroads Apartments. That has turned out surprisingly satisfying for both of us. We’ve been going there on the weekends and just hanging out.
Someone else said it has the feeling of all the good aspects of a high school youth group—but without the immaturity.
It’s the end of March now, meaning I’m in the middle of the semester with projects, papers, and tests. I feel like I’ve started some great relationships with some great people at Crossroads, but given the demands on my time, I’m going to have to be careful about things for a few weeks.
I’ll have to be intentional about who I snap and text. If I want to go hang out on the weekend, I’ll need to double down on work throughout the week.
I think the best thing would be for me to let everyone know what I’m doing. It’s a true case of “it’s not you, it’s me” and it will only be for a couple of weeks.
I’m sure no one will be upset. When the crunch passes, I’ll be able to give more time to a social life again.
Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:
It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.
I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.
My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet connectivity fees) AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month. Every supporter is helping!
Again, thank you very, very much.
