LITTLE CHANGES by Cindi Curtis Allen
Here’s a logic and semantic truth for you… Being married is different from getting married.
Michael has unboxed something I didn’t know about before the wedding. It’s something that was obscured by him living in a condo.
Let’s call it backyard skills.
I’ll skip over his blitz through the flower beds, which he did impressively quickly, and get to the biggie. The barbecue grill.
Monday—slowly cooked bone-in chicken breasts. He seared the meat side nicely, then put them bone-side down and slathered them with Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce. He turned down the heat and let them cook until the sauce had thickened almost into the consistency of cake icing. (Meanwhile I did veggies and salad inside.)
Tuesday—southern-style pork ribs. He cooked them about the same way… slowly and on low heat. (Meanwhile I did veggies and salad inside.)
Honestly, it was like watching an artist at work. His attention to detail would not surprise anyone who knows him. The outcome both nights was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
The only problem is I mentioned it to Jordan last night. It seems like there’s going to be a gathering this weekend, and Michael is the cook—or grillmaster.
I hesitate to draw a meaningful point, but it will be on my mind all day if I don’t.
No matter how well we think we know someone, it’s possible that when circumstances arise, we’ll learn something new.
In my case, it was a delightful surprise. And I’ll end the thought there.
Let me close with an excerpt from scripture in which the man speaks to a woman he loves.
Song of Songs 2
10 My beloved spoke, and said to me, “Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.
11 For behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone.
12 The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come…
Nothing deep to say about this passage, but… Song of Songs teaches that love between a husband and wife is powerful, beautiful, and worth protecting, and it should grow naturally through mutual respect, desire, and commitment.

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories. At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
As you know, I share a lot of content free to all, and I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
My hope is that reserving a few photos and small portions of posts for you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
Again, thank you very much.
