WHIRLWIND LIFE by Hayes Markel

It feels like forever since I’ve posted an update while I was actually in Memphis. I’m at Carriage Crossing right now with Jordan, and she said I should check in. We’re calling this our lunch break, but we work such odd hours, who can tell?

Jordan has at least one call from across the Atlantic every day. Lately, I guess you could say, from across the Pacific, as she’s been dialing things in with a company in Perth.

My work is pretty much back-end, so I can do it any time, from anywhere. And the “anywhere” idea is what has me shopping on a Monday afternoon.

Roman and I decided I’d travel with him, and honestly, that feels pretty perfect. Our next trip is an out-on-Thursday, back-on-Monday jaunt to Anchorage, where LDM is bidding on work for a fishing company.

They want to, as Carter said, slap some hands and see some smiles. I’m trying to pick up a couple of sweaters—like the one I’m wearing—from some clearance sections. Not much to pick from, but I thought it would be fun and more satisfying than Amazon.

Looking ahead—and I can’t remember if I’ve said this yet—Roman and I are planning our wedding. It will be at my home church in Nashville on June 20.

My parents were a little cautious in endorsing the wedding. Roman is a bit older than I am—he’s 31 and I’m 24. Dad warmed up to the idea first.

“Well, when you’re 50 he’ll be 57, right? It won’t matter will it?”

Jordan insists it doesn’t matter now. She applies something she calls “half plus 8” that she says is a more conservative version of the “half plus 7” dating range formula.

I could show you the math, but I’ll just let you go with the fact that Jordan would have things no other way than they are.

I will wrap up to say that no formula is needed to see how happy she and Carter are. I’ll not try to tell their story. It’s obvious to me that they are in a really good spot for three and a half months (I’m not even counting December).

That’s it for today. See you next time.

Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
