Chapter 94: STARTING WITH COFFEE by Hannah Madison
It is, indeed, Saturday. However, Merritt and I have to work.
Merritt is taking the train upstate to meet with the foreman for the contractor working with a NYC SysCo client—he’s been up there before. The foreman called late yesterday because he wanted to alter something. Mr. Robertson is standing by to review and approve, but Merritt gets to check everything out.
I am heading across the street to meet with the lead contractor on the Crossroads Phase II project. We’re looking at the punch list that the building inspector gave us. It’s a bit sideways to approve occupancy for the second floor while work on the first, third, and fourth floors is ongoing, but it will work out. Mostly, the issues involved ingress and egress concerns while work goes on around people moving in.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but Tom has decided that, on the first floor, he’ll put in a small deli on one side (the left, looking from the street) and a small market on the other. Will Robertson thought Merritt and I had enough on our plates with the third and fourth floors, so he and David Stewart are working with an architect to come up with the plans.
Demolition started on the first floor this week, and should be done by the end of next week. The cost of all this rush work must be staggering, but I’m not involved in the budget side of this. Mr. Jenkins insists it’s going to work out well for him.
He did mention that he has leases for six of the eight micros already signed and paid for. So, I suppose he knows what he’s doing.
I’m going to finish my coffee, hit the shower and get going. Thanks for letting me check in.

Chapter 95: WOULDN’T YOU? by Evan Calder
We are at Miami Beach. We had to enjoy it. Wouldn’t you?
We have found a couple of hotels that aren’t part of a major franchise and have bounced through them one night at a time. According to plan, anyone looking for Shay will only know where she was. We check in late and check out early.
Mr. Regent and Ms. Chambers tell us that there are no known threats, which is being called condition green—I suppose that helps remind us this is first and foremost a decoy mission, not a reality romance TV show.
We got a message in the group chat with the Brooklyn people from Addison.
“Hey Shay! We miss you! Hope you are doing well. Devon, we miss you, too.”
Mara—texting as Shay—messaged back, taking a chance to maybe initiate a change. “We’re doing well, but I don’t remember the motorcycle being so tiring last time out.”
Then Shay—texting as Mara. “You probably weren’t trying to stay in hiding, so you could stay at the same hotels longer. And you were alone. Maybe you and Devon would have more fun in a car. At least you could talk to each other.”
I cannot tell you how long Mara and I jumped up and down and did fist bumps! (Okay, jumping up and down was metaphorical. Fist bumps were literal.)
Our guess is that Shay will use her burner phone to call her mom or dad, who will get the word and start a process to make a change.
We’re already planning what it would mean to have actual luggage!
Stand by for more on this. Yeah, we’re celebrating!
Today, though, we’re doing the beach thing.
We’d like to add that your interest in our activities means a lot to us. Thank you very much.
See you soon.
Be your best you!

Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.
I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
