PLATE SPINNING by Cindi Curtis Allen

I’m referring to the circus act where a performer spins plates on poles, cycling from pole to pole to keep them from falling. This week, I feel like I’m in the middle of that act.

You probably know I’m doing some coding work for Roman Lenox. That has been going well, but I’ve hit a little snag I’m trying to work out. I’m having some problems getting the data from the database correctly. I’m going to try a different approach later on.

As for my normal job, I have been tasked with doing three different small things for two different projects. None of them are overly complex. All of them involve meshing what I’m doing with the project leads’ plans and—more challenging—the customers’ wishes.

By “wishes,” I mean rub-the-lamp-and-hope-for-a-genie wishes.

Now, here’s the fun part. It sort of feels exciting in a good way.

And here’s something else… Every few hours, Michael comes in and asks how it’s going.

“What’s the latest rant?” he asked at the end of the day yesterday.

Him understanding that I’m spinning plates… I don’t know… It just feels awesome!

Now, I’ll wrap up with a passage that isn’t directly related, but one that I shared with Michael this morning.
