MAKING TWEAKS by Cindi Curtis Allen

This week, I’ve been tweaking things.. I suppose you could even say right now, I’m tweaking the grocery supplies.

Michael is in Collierville meeting with Jordan, Hayes, and Carter. The topic is that they are still planning to start grad school this fall, and they are doing a quick pass on all their clients. P.S. Using Jordan and Hayes’s apartment as an office isn’t without problems.

I wanted to make a pot of spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker for dinner tonight, so I popped over to Walmart to—as I said—tweak my grocery supplies.

All week, I’ve been tweaking code for my real job. I counted: three projects my actual team is working on and four projects for other teams. It’s been super simple things like fix the punctuation in the form description or change the query from “table x” to “table y.”

Last night, Roman called about what Jordan now calls my side hustle. “Cindi, I swear I’m planning to start working on the table changes, but all my coders and I are sweeping through all the applications and updating (Can we call that another word for “tweak”?) some security bits.”

He went on to ask if I’d take a shot at altering—aka tweaking—a custom supply chain management system.

“It’s actually the client that caused me to call Michael,” he said.

He told me that the owner had looked at his proposal materials and nearly passed because they were so bad.

“What they want is an extra field on the supply chain tracking side. They want to tag each order to indicate which products it is meant for. Some orders are for more than one product, so it has to be flexible.”

I told him I’d be happy to look at it. It sort of feels… I don’t know… It’s good, but that seems like a shallow way to say it.

I’ll close with a verse I shared with Michael this morning in our devotional time:

Colossians 4:2: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (NIV)

I’m going to make this my motto for a few days.

Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.

MAKING TWEAKS by Cindi Curtis Allen. Good morning, Cindi. Your side hustle. 😊. Leave it to the Firecracker to call it out. Well, Cindi, you are the SQL master. Did Roman just open a path to the answer? So, Jordan, Carter, AND Hayes are working in the apartment? Hmm. Glad you and Michael make time for devotional. Thanks for the verse. That is a good one. So, what did Michael do with his place downtown? I can't remember. Spaghetti for supper actually sounds pretty good. Add in some turkey meatballs and voila! Thank you, Cindi, for checking in. Please keep us in the loop on your side hustle. Thanks.

Hi Cindy my tweaking girl, I'm glad you're doing great on Roman's work and you're planning today's dinner: por of spaghetti sauce? That sounds delicious 😋. Hoping things keep on getting better for you, have a great day.

ADD: Cindi, you said that Roman said the "client wantis an extra field on the supply chain tracking side." Cindi, I am not the expert that you are, but I'm thinking that that extra field could be used to create a common key. Would that be a way to start a path to a solution? Just asking. Sorry to bother, just trying to help. Have a good day.
