GOOD MORNING
Same shirt, different day? Yes. I only wore it for a few minutes to do last night’s post, and I just picked it up from the dresser where I tossed it to wear for this morning’s.
I am going to the office today to work. I’m trying to get used to that because after the wedding, we’re moving into Jason’s condo unit on the ground floor. The view is better from the office, and the office is closer.
I don’t know… I still might come up here to this unit (3rd floor) sometimes. We’ll work that out as we go.
I’m not planning on working tomorrow. I have a thing on Saturday, and I need to… you know… be ready.
The wedding is at noon South Padre Island time (U.S.A. Central time zone). My plan is to keep things pretty simple as far as reporting on the event goes. Geoni says she’ll take some pictures of some of the guests.
Once the service is over, there will be some typical pictures. If you’ve seen one happy bride and groom, you probably know what to expect.
We’ll share some shots of the reception—which will be at Sea Ranch Restaurant at Sea Ranch Marina, where the getaway boat is docked.
Tomorrow, I’ll share something to show a little about the boat. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Meredith Sinclair has a few paragraphs for me to work on today. That’s what I’m going to try to do. Call it my way of hiding in fiction so that I don’t have to think about what’s going on in reality!
Last thing—Josh and Geoni will be home with Kel later today. The working plan is late afternoon. We’re going to have a casual dinner in the office so he can see exactly what kind of crazy world he’s becoming part of.
I’ll let you know how that goes, of course. We’ll skip pictures today, though—to give Kel a chance to get his bearings first.
Let’s say that’s it for now! See you soon.

IT WAS FUNNY IN MY HEAD by Brooks McKenna
Well, the good news is that, even after my awkward joke about Mateo trying to make me jealous, he sat with me on the bus. We’ve been sitting together on the bus since, like, the second time he came to Youth Group.
I have no idea why I said what I said… “Now, why is my bus buddy telling me about meeting another girl? Are you trying to make me jealous?”
He played it off, and I tried to take it back. Seems like no harm was done.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be jealous if he said he was full-on dating someone else. We’re just now getting to know each other. Seriously, we just sit together on the bus and sometimes share TikToks or IG reels. Maybe once, we talked about plans after graduation.
For him, that’s a year from now. For me, two.
Meaning we don’t have plans, but maybe we have the idea we should make some.
Really, I’m hoping that I can get to know Jenna, the girl he was talking about. She told him I had invited her to Youth Group.
I’ve said before that last summer was mostly me staying home, besides Youth Group. I’ll work some this summer, but I’d like to have a little social life, too.
I guess that’s normal, right? Not that there’s anything wrong with the kids who live here, but it’s exciting to think about meeting someone new.
I guess, in a way, Mateo is new as far as things with me go. We really didn’t talk much until one night he came in while I was at work.
I guess maybe, between Jenna and him, I might have a chance to do some fun things this summer.
FORTY-NINE HOURS
Two days is a long time to hold your breath, but in the context of getting married, it seems like no time at all. I could think about that and let my words meander.
Instead, I’m going to share an excerpt from Chapter 1 of Meredith Sinclair’s Cloudfall.
Sienna and Luke made it to the lift core well before the cargo-tram from Stratus Five arrived. The usual crowds gathered, and those receiving shipments crowded the unloading area, but nothing disorderly occurred. By the time the last of the tram cars reached the loading zone, most of the crowd had collected their deliveries and moved on.
Luke and Sienna checked the time and started toward their 05.50 duty to guard Senator Roivah. They had plenty of time before the detail, so they patrolled slowly as they walked along.
As they approached a corner news viewer,a recording was playing of a speech Governor Kenwood had given a week before. He was addressing a gathering of journalists.
“I’m not suggesting a full reconnection,” he said. “But we all know many of the systems that make life in the Stratuses possible were designed around AI controlling them and keeping them stable.I don’t need to remind you what happened at Stratus Four. A partial reconnection wouldn’t threaten our independence.”
As Luke and Sienna kept walking, Luke said, “He oversimplifies things. All of the systems he's talking about are connected to the Internet. There’s no way to just connect the AI matrix directly to the waterworks.”
“I’ve always thought autonomous AI seemed safer,” Sienna said.
“And a lot more limited.” Luke pointed at a shopper near one of the booths who seemed to be trying to make sure no one was watching him. “Let’s say hi.”
Luke and Sienna walked over and Sienna said, “Do these comms come in red?”
“What?” The shopper looked over. “Oh… I don’t know.”
Sienna watched the shopper walk away. “Senator Roivah isn’t winning the governor’s favor with his views.”
Luke nodded. “He’ll say limited reconnection isn’t possible—not without totally changing the grid.”
I’ll humbly add that she’s currently asking me to help with scene flow and development while she architects the overall world-building and plot arcs. It feels very symbiotic, if you ask me.
Anyway… I’ll be back later to check in and say good night.
LATE LUNCH AWAY by Vanessa Lenen
Today finds me between grant reports and insurance red tape. We’ve filled all the clinic positions, and I’m following up to align all of the documentation.
I got caught up on a phone call, then a Teams call, so lunch is late. I decided to come over to the park. I thought a little respite would do me good.
David and I are still getting along very well. Looking back, it feels a little fantastic how things worked out. We only met face-to-face around Christmastime, but it really feels like a lot longer.
I’m also very happy with the whole clinic situation, and Port Isabel suits me very nicely.I think, in large part, it’s because I know this isn’t a temporary situation. There’s no epidemic to contain before packing up the lab and heading to the next remote village in crisis.
So, I find myself in a great relationship with David, in a very satisfying work situation, and surrounded by a new group of people—expanding my social circle with new faces and potential friendships.
In fact, David and I have an invitation to Ailana and Jason’s wedding on Saturday, and we’re planning on going—we enjoyed meeting them, and are hoping to do some things together with them from time to time in the future.
GOOD NIGHT
GOOD NIGHT—Jason and I just left the office where Josh and Geoni are hosting a come-and-go meet-Kel dinner. Just chicken fingers, veggies, and other things you can eat while annoying a teenage boy. Um, Jason says he’s a young man, not a boy. I feel like that’s a lot better.
Kel seems like a really awesome guy. He’s sort of book-smart about science and math, but he’s socially smart, too.
Instantly, he connected with Jasmine and Micah. Jasmine talked to him about her growing up in foster care until she aged out. Kel understood in a way none of the rest of us do.
Just for bookkeeping purposes, Kel is currently 16. Jasmine will be 21 in June and Micah turned 22 in March. And while I’m at it, Josh will be 30 in August while Geoni turned 28 in February.
Moving on…
Jason and I have walked to the beach end of Whiting Street. We’re just taking in the sounds and smells of the evening. Even the passing traffic has become part of the experience. I’d say from my perspective, South Padre Island isn’t hurried. There’s never far to go if you’re staying in town, so the pace is easy.
I think coming back from the honeymoon to that will be nice. An active but unhurried community with good food and, of course, the beach… We’re looking forward to it.
It will be fun, I think, to help Kel find himself here, too. He seems relaxed already, but I think that’s in part because every one of us is easygoing.
And on that note, Jason and I are going to make our way to Beach Access 7 and just go as far as the end of the wooden walkover through the dune grasses. We’ll just hang out there for a while, then go home.
Tomorrow is the day before the day! Holy cow!
May you find your way to places that give you comfort and peace, places that help you know who you are and inspire you to be even more.
Good night.
Be your best you!

Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.
I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and sections of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
