GOOD MORNING
GOOD MORNING—Laundry day? Yes! Day before the wedding? Also yes! You might be thinking I should have done laundry before today. Me—I’m thinking this is a good way to fill a few minutes with something besides wedding perseverations!
And in truth… I do sort of feel like knowing everything is clean before I haul it down to Jason’s condo makes sense!
We’ve not talked much about the move because it’s sort of a non-issue. I’ve moved a lot of clothes down. A few of my favorite small appliances… We’ll leave this condo mostly set up and as I decided on must-haves, I’ll just come get them.
So, laundry now, packing for the honeymoon later.
I know many of you are interested in getting to know Kel a little bit. I’m sure a lot about him will come out over time, but today, he’s agreed to check in with you and let you know how insane he thinks the AGI Creative family is!
So far, he seems pretty comfortable to me. He’s very polite and maybe a little on the quiet side. And I think that’s expected, given that he just got here yesterday.
I’ll be back for a midday post. All of the girls are coming up for lunch and laughs. Maybe you can call it a chill AGI family version of a bachelorette party.
In the meantime, I hope you have a great Friday morning. See you soon!

THIS IS IT… by Kel Hale
Well, I was invited to say hi to everyone. I haven’t had much to post on social media in my life, but I guess that’s changing.
I wouldn’t say I suffered, but I didn’t have a typical life as a kid. Maybe it was like that for a lot of foster kids, though.
Bottom line up front: my mom has issues with drugs, but when she was sober, she was fine. I got removed from home when I was seven, back in 2017. As for foster care, it is what it is.
I’ve got no beef with the system. I’d say there was a sort of love present—maybe, for me, it was like the kind you get from a great teacher or a coach.
My mom is allowed to contact me, but I can decline. She probably won’t—maybe a birthday card. I wouldn’t decline if she did. Not because I need to feel something from her or for her, but because it might mean something to her.
I remember her like a child remembers, you know. I guess there’s a conflict between the memories of being scared and the memories of how she was when she was sober.
One of my foster moms, Retta Collins, said I could dwell on the hugs and kisses, and eventually I’d more or less forget being hungry and left alone watching videos. She’s probably right.
I’m not used to relationships that last more than a few years. Josh and Geoni say this one is for life, even if it changes with time.
“Graduation… college… first job… marriage… kids…” Josh said.
He said they’re looking forward to sharing all of that with me.
There’s supposed to be a big road trip this summer, but after the wedding this weekend, we’re going to Chicago to meet Josh’s parents. Geoni doesn’t have her mom any more.
Low-key that makes me sad for her. But it is what it is.
So here I am starting a new life. Day two in South Padre Island. I got you!
LAST LUNCH
In about 26 hours, I’ll be married. Boom! That’s happening! The wedding is at noon tomorrow.
Honestly, I’m ready to be at Sea Ranch Restaurant for the reception in a sundress and looking ahead to a few nights out to sea.
The AGI Creative family rented a Fairline Phantom 38 for us to use for our honeymoon cruise. I let Clay tell me something to say about its specs.
“It’s powered by twin Volvo Penta TAMD63P diesel engines, each coming in at around 370 hp each. It can cruise comfortably around 20 to 25 knots, and at top speed, it can hit about 30 to 32 knots.”
Micah and Jason seem to think that’s impressive. I didn’t bother Josh about it—he and Kel are looking at bedroom changes. (Josh and Geoni want him to feel like the room is his, not something assembled from the Wayfair furniture website. Kel, naturally, thinks what they did is great to start with.)
And I’ll springboard from that to say what I think is impressive is the whole thing with Josh, Geoni, and Kel. They are taking it easy.
“We agreed we’d be okay with making mistakes,” Geoni said. “Of course, I want to do a lot all at once. He said he’d tell me if I try to go too fast.”
She went on to say she knew it was too soon to start buying decorations for the college dorm, but she’s already thought about it. She told us Josh said maybe they should start with getting things set up here first.
It’s all really exciting but it seems like a lot at the same time. I know I have enough on my plate these days that I’ll be happy to wait a little while to decide about children. Jason and I have agreed that waiting at least a year wouldn’t cause any issues if we decide to have a child of our own.
So, let me wrap up this post thanking all of you for your support and encouraging words. Tonight’s post will be one last-night-single walk around town with Jason and whoever else wants to go.
See you then.
NO SCHOOL? by Kel Hale
Josh and Geoni were busy with work off and on today. After lunch, I told them I’d do the dishes and asked if I could take a walk.
Geoni laughed at herself. “I feel like a nag, but make sure you take your phone.”
“Yes ma’am,” I said.
I thought it was funny Geoni reminded me to take my phone. As if, right? Anyway, they set up Life360 so they can keep up with me and I can find them if I need them. Pretty cool.
So, like, there’s a walkover to the beach just down the street, and before I knew it, I was there. I just watched the surf coming in and looked at a few things on TikTok.
I was on my third baseball video when I got the absolute jumpscare of my life. No cap, I am still recovering.
A voice hit me from, like, ten feet away. “Why aren’t you in school?”
It was a blonde girl, and she could tell she’d scared me. “Sorry about that. You okay?”
“Yeah, but I was low-key thinking I was in trouble.”
“Are you ditching school?”
“No, I’m done for the year. I just moved here yesterday.”
“No way! I just moved in on Saturday. Where’d you move from?”
“Houston,” I said.
“Bruh… I moved here from Galveston.”
I laughed. “Chances of that happening?”
“Right? I’m Jenna… What grade are you going to be in?”
“Eleventh. You?”
“Same.”
“I’m Kel.”
“My dad’s a chief in the Coast Guard. We move like every year. Not really, but it seems like it. What brought your family here?”
Well, that just got complicated. “So… story time… They’ve lived here a while. They’re trying to adopt me. It’s mostly paperwork and a waiting period at this point.”
“Oh…” She obviously didn’t know how to respond.
“Do you know anyone else?” I asked.
She told me she’d met a girl at Whataburger and swapped Snaps, and that she’d met a guy who cuts yards. “So far, that’s all, but they both invited me to their youth group.”
“Sounds cool…” I said.
She smiled. “We should crash it next week.”
I agreed. “It’ll be cool.”
P.S. We swapped Snaps before she had to go.
GOOD NIGHT
Tonight, I’m walking with Jason, Geoni, and Josh. Clay took Kel and Micah down to the marina to look at the rental boat. Micah suggested a quick spin in Imagine What, too—Clay’s Regal LS9. Clay did not object, and Kel said that sounded “tuff.”
I’m pretty sure “tuff” in that context was good.
Every passing hour makes me happier for Josh, Geoni, and especially Kel. I’m sure he’ll find some friends in time. Josh, Geoni, Jason, and I were talking about that a block ago.
We all remember that the church youth group was a big part of our own social connections growing up. Geoni said she had searched online and found one nearby that meets regularly. They said they’d ask Kel what he thinks.
When Jason and I get back from the honeymoon, I’ll be sure to ask them about that.
All right, everyone, let’s wrap up today.
Tomorrow, I’ll have a simple check-in, then the Journal gets passed on to Sasha and everyone else. Like I said, there’s a lot going on between the AGI group and our friends over the Causeway in Port Isabel. I’m sure you’ll have plenty to read about.
There will be some pictures on Saturday from the wedding and reception, then Jason and I will disappear for a few days.I’ll miss sharing my ridiculous trains of thought with you, but it will just be for a few days.
See you tomorrow… Good night.
Be your best you!

Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.
I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and sections of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
