Chapter 3.1.10: MORE CHANGES? by Hannah Madison

Living at Crossroads is amazing, to be honest. It’s like the church youth group grew up and re-formed as young adults.

We’re all relatively close. Merritt and Kent share a bathroom, so they have become friends. Izzy and I talk often here in the common room, too.

So it was a surprise when we learned that Izzy and Kent are seriously thinking about leaving New York City. They are both a little older than I am, and the idea of marriage and family is much closer for them than for me.

So I suppose their desire not to raise kids here makes sense. Certainly millions of kids grow up here, and do fine. But for Kent and Izzy, the idea of some place smaller is appealing.

You probably read that a clinic in Port Isabel, Texas, needs a caseworker. They got Izzy’s name from a friend she’s known since her teenage modeling days.

It’s just an idea. A possibility. But it has Izzy and Kent seriously thinking about life beyond Brooklyn.

Paul and Rebecca have returned from their honeymoon, and Paul said he understood. He said that if Pay It Forward Society ever rises from the ashes, it will be worse off for having lost Kent and Izzy on top of losing Emma and Noah.

So far, there’s no news from Pay It Forward Society. At this point, though, even if they called today, I think Kent and Izzy have already decided to move on.

I suppose that’s how life among twenty-somethings goes. We’re growing into ourselves, and growth often means change.
