GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

Welcome to my morning. As I said yesterday, we stayed at the Days Inn & Suites here in Cuba, Missouri.

I also mentioned we were planning another photo shoot today. This is partly because we can, partly because Jasmine and Sasha had an idea, and of course, partly because we’d like to make more income.

Cuba is close to parts of Mark Twain National Forest. We had an idea to repurpose some of the farm-lifestyle apparel for a more general outdoor vibe.

I’d like to point out something…

I didn’t mention it, but the colorful undergarments some of us modeled are comfortable, supportive pieces suited to active or work lifestyles. They would be as good on the trail as they would on the farm. So, you’ll get a second look at some of them today.

Without getting too far into the details, we’re doing some studio-style shots and others out in the forest. We’re going to send some to Naomi and ask her to pitch them individually to the client from the farm shoot.

Anything the client doesn’t want will go into Jason and Geoni’s stock photo catalogs. Not everything comes from the farm wardrobe. While the rest of us have been taking notes and pictures along the route, Jasmine and Sasha have also been stopping at shops to pick up things for today.

Heads up—not all of us really brought hiking boots. We’ll deal with it.

That’s it. Now, I need to get to that free breakfast before Emily gets all the good stuff!

See you soon!

STUDIO WORK by Ailana Geven Keller

Well, we’re in the studio, as you can see. It’s a hotel meeting room, just like the one we used in Santa Monica.

It’s close enough that we can do wardrobe changes in our own rooms. This slows the pace down, but that’s fine. Anything we do today is on our own terms.

Most of what we’re modeling this morning came from little shops Jasmine and Sasha visited between Oklahoma City and here. A few pieces are from name brands that Naomi might be able to pitch, but we’re not counting on that.

Most of these shots will end up in Geoni and Jason’s stock photo catalogs. Sasha asked Geoni how it felt to be a model in her own stock-photo inventory. Geoni admitted it was strange.

Since our wardrobe changes took more time, there were periods when none of us were on set. During one of those moments, Emily and Kel asked Jason if they could play around.

Jason helped them out, and Kel shot some images of Emily. She thought some of Kel’s pictures were very good.

“Ailana, will you show everyone what Kel did? You can scribble out my face if you want to.”

No way I’d do that. We’re not going to try to sell any of theirs, but since they asked, I’m sharing one of them.

From there, we broke everything down and packed it up. We pulled the outdoor-shooting gear from the trailer and put the studio cases inside.

I’ll check in later with some more shots from the forest, so see you then.

FOREST VIBE by Ailana Geven Keller

We made our way south of Cuba to Mark Twain National Forest, where we got busy reworking some of the workwear and country-living outfits as outdoor-lifestyle fashion.

We had the RV as a wardrobe room, but to be honest, a few times we just grabbed a couple of outfits, told the men to stay near the road, and hiked to places we thought would make good backdrops.

It was in the middle of one such outfit change that Sasha decided she’d like a picture of her emerging baby bump. We all stopped what we were doing and shared a precious moment with her as she told us what it was like to carry a life inside her. She’s going to share that herself here on Patreon later.

As I mentioned earlier, we don’t know if Naomi will be able to sell any of today’s work. But we think the quality is there, and if not, the images won’t go to waste—Jason and Geoni will divide them between their stock-photo catalogs.

I didn’t actually count—I could go back and look at the pictures—but I think we all modeled six or seven outfits in the forest. Typically, once dressed, each of us would shoot for five or ten minutes in different places, then change into something else while another model took her turn.

It was efficient, but the pace was relaxed. We ended the day with a lot of good images ready to be processed and hopefully sold.

That’s all from Mark Twain National Forest. I’ll check in later to close out the day, so see you then!

A NEW LIFE by Sasha Everett

Patreon Exclusive Content!

Clay and I have talked about maternity pictures. I’ve seen some very elegant ones. I’ve seen others that I thought were excuses to pose nude.

Our forest shoot today put me in a position to do something more fitting my personality. Between outfits, I asked the other girls—again—if they could see my baby bump.

They finally agreed that they could. So I put the hoodie back on and asked them to document the first visible evidence that a new life is growing inside me. Geoni took the first picture.

I buttoned my shorts and sat down. Ailana asked what it felt like to have a life growing inside me. I tried my best to give a full answer.

So far, pregnancy has been quieter than I expected and more consuming than I understood. My body feels familiar until it suddenly doesn’t. I’m tired in a way sleep doesn’t always fix. Some mornings, food sounds impossible; an hour later, I’m hungry enough to be angry. My clothes still fit, mostly, but I’m aware of every small change because I know what it means.

I haven’t felt the baby move yet. I know the baby is moving, but I can’t feel anything I can identify as movement yet. That absence makes this stage strange. I carry proof in appointments, numbers, and images, but not yet in a kick beneath my hand.

Emotionally, I move between calm and fear. I am happy—deeply happy—but happiness does not erase the weight of responsibility. This child is already changing our plans, our home, and the way I imagine the future. I don’t resent that. I respect it. Becoming a mother feels less like one dramatic moment and more like a steady surrender of the person I was to the person I will need to become.

That’s all for now. I don’t have a grand conclusion yet. I’m still learning what this feels like, one day and one small change at a time. I’m grateful, cautious, tired, hopeful, and trying to make room in myself for everything that is coming.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller

We are all back at the hotel. Dinner was at IHOP, and we just took our time—no rush, no fuss.

We sent a few images to Naomi. She liked them. She said she’d check with the client from the farm shoot, but she didn’t make any promises. We didn’t expect her to.

Jasmine—taking full advantage of the business classes she’s taking online—created a spreadsheet to project how long it will take for the stock photo images to pay for the day. Assuming they perform comparably to similar images, it will be… worth it in the long run.

“It’s a cumulative effect, though,” Josh replied. “Each image in the catalog has the potential to draw income for a long time.”

We all agreed that it was a fun day, anyway you look at it, and that’s a win in and of itself. So, we’re actually celebrating today for what we’re sure of. Should Naomi sell a few more, that will be even better.

Tomorrow, we resume our odyssey on Route 66. We’re winding down the trip, but the notes and images we’ve collected will give us articles to write for months to come.

And the memories will put smiles on our faces even longer.

We’re not done. There are a few more days to go, and I’ll share them with you for sure!

May the work of your hands bring you satisfaction, joy, and prosperity, and may it leave you with fond memories that make your life feel more complete.

Good night.

Hi Ailana, another classic morning post and despite of messy hair, you look stunning. From all the pics (of course, they're awesome) my favorite ones are from Sasha. It's evident her pregnancy and she looks nice. Those pics are gold.

GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller. Good morning, Ailana. This all sounds like a solid plan. Keep you busy all day. And, no, don't let Emily get all the fresh best food from the breakfast area. Thanks for the preview and have a good day.

STUDIO WORK by Ailana Geven Keller. Well, that is a pretty nice arrangement. able to change up clothes in the room. Maybe a little longer between shots, but you saved money not renting another room. These are all really good shots in the studio. You guys put some weight into your expressions in these. And look at Kel! Taking some shots of his favorite subject. Nice!

FOREST VIBE by Ailana Geven Keller. I never knew there was a Mark Twain National Forest. Huh. How about that! Learning all kinds of things from this road trip. The shots of Sasha and Geoni turned out particularly well, in my opinion. Nice!

A NEW LIFE by Sasha Everett. Good afternoon, Sasha. These shots are really something! They are quite honest, aren't they? The hint of a smile in the first one and then the strong mother figure of the second. Very well done. Thanks for sharing the photos and your thoughts about the wonder of it all with us.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller. Barefoot in the hotel lobby? Brave. Great shots, though, Jason. Glad it was a fun day. Whether Naomi can sell them or not, doesn't detract from the experience of making them. Well done. I bid you goodnight. 🌙.
