I’ve got some truth-telling to do here.

Conner and I don’t know who’s on duty. There’s a schedule. We don’t look at it.

Pretty much every day, after the common area breakfast, we sit with Shay and work through all the daily tasks for Best Price Office. We’re not making money that competes with the Blue Water Express billions, but we’re actually making more than enough to cover our salaries.

After that, Conner and I hang out in the common area in case someone bursts through the steel security door from the street and charges up the stairs. So far, that hasn’t happened.

We read the daily briefs from Ronald Regent.

From time to time, we check in with the real Mara and Evan. We got to know them a little during the big Memphis wedding weekend.

So in all honesty, Conner and I don’t know who’s on duty and who’s not.

I like my job. I was a good FBI agent. I could have moved into fieldwork, maybe even undercover work.

But in all honesty, I probably never will. Working for Ryder Family Protective Services pays better. Eric Marsten pointed out that I’m in a position parallel to Marilyn Chambers. She started as Mrs. Ryder’s personal guard and is now her personal assistant. Now her title is Director of Personal Security & Executive Operations.

There’s one more “in all honesty” I’ll end on.

In all honesty, Conner and I are dating. But neither of us is brave enough to say that. Or maybe we’re not smart enough to say that. Or maybe we’re both too shy.

But let’s be honest… right?
