HOUSEWORK by Emma Knox Vale
I had school and work today, same as every day. Noah got to pick up an extra shift for overtime, so he went in to work from noon to 8 p.m.
When I got home, he’d swept and mopped the whole house. We got the Swiffer dry and wet floor pads, but it’s still a lot.
Plus, he did all the laundry.
Now, we think being married is teamwork, and he’s even agreed that me cutting the yard—or half the yard—makes sense given his work schedule. We also agreed that we aren’t keeping score of who did what and when.
But seeing how much he did after I went to class got me thinking about how great that made me feel. So, I changed outfits right off and decided to clean the bathroom.
I’ll also make sure the kitchen is clean and be ready to make him something to eat.
I hope it don’t sound like I feel obligated. It’s just me wanting to do my part, plus wanting him to feel as good about coming home as I did.
That’s all for now.
Thanks for reading my story! See you next time!
