COMING THIS WEEK by Cindi Curtis Allen
The week is about to start, and I hope yours begins with a little peace, a decent cup of coffee, and at least one thing on your calendar that does not make you want to hide under the desk.
I am in the office this morning dressed for Teams calls—at least from the knees up—pretending that looking put together means my task list is also put together.
It is not.
This week has work stacked in a few different directions. For my full-time job, Monday starts with a client Teams call so we can hear what issues they are having, what is working, what is confusing them, and what needs to be clarified before small problems turn into big ones.
Tuesday is our “Tuesday Touch-base” meeting, which is part status report, part planning session, and part everybody trying to remember what we promised last week. I also have function updates to review, because apparently code does not become more helpful just because I stare at it kindly.
Wednesday looks like routine coding, documentation, and bug fixes. Not glamorous. Very necessary.
Then there is Roman’s work too. He is still sorting the priority list for which apps need attention first. The goal is to make them more scalable, more universal, and less dependent on one person remembering where all the weird little workarounds live.
Honestly, that is a good life goal too.
Midsummer live-green tip: before you throw vegetable scraps straight in the trash, think about whether they can feed something else first. Compost if you can. If you cannot, even starting small with coffee grounds, pepper tops, tomato ends, and herb stems in a sealed countertop container can help you build the habit. Less waste leaving the house. More goodness going back into the soil later.
Today’s verse is 1 John 4:7 NIV: “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.”
That sounds simple until Monday starts.
It is easy to love people in theory. It is harder when the meeting runs long, the message comes in sharp, the bug is stubborn, the kitchen is messy, and everyone needs something at once.
But love does not always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like patience. Sometimes it looks like answering kindly. Sometimes it looks like doing the necessary work well because real people are depending on it.
So that is my prayer for this week.
Let us love one another in the emails, in the meetings, in the garden, in the kitchen, and in the little places where nobody claps.
Have a great week, friends.
See you soon.
