Months earlier, when Ailana first learned about UFO Beach, she doubted she would visit often—if ever. But Geoni’s fascination with the island’s flora drew them both into the dunes early one morning.

After photographing the morning glories in the soft early light, Geoni suggested that Ailana model for her. Ailana smiled and agreed.

For a while, they traded places. Ailana posed while Geoni worked behind the camera; then Ailana took the camera and Geoni stepped into the frame.

It began as practice. With the dunes quiet, the Gulf breeze moving through their hair, and the white flowers open around them, the session became freer, bolder, and more creative—art that rivaled the morning glories sprawling across the sand.

ROCKINGHAM BEACH—from 2026-07-21

Hayes took full advantage of her time on the beach.

For a while, she let the afternoon belong to nothing more complicated than sun, wind, and water. She stretched out on the sand, closed her eyes, and listened to the waves roll in with a steadiness that made deadlines and travel schedules feel farther away than they actually were.

When she got too warm, she walked down to the water and let the surf move around her ankles. It was cool enough to make her breathe a little deeper, and clean enough to make her understand why people came to places like this and stayed longer than they meant to.

She basked in the sun. She waded in the waves. She lay in the sand and let herself be still.

Eventually, her time ran out. There were other plans. Dinner. A shower. Clean hair. A dress Roman would notice without making too much of it.

But as Hayes gathered her things and brushed sand from her legs, she counted the time well spent.

Not wasted.

Not indulgent.

Needed.
