STILL WATERS by Cindi Curtis Alle
Good morning, friends.
I’m ready for church, and Michael suggested I check in with everyone before we go. That was probably wise because otherwise I would keep adjusting things that do not need adjusting and calling it “being prepared.”
After church, we’re all going to Jordan’s apartment to hang out, have snacks, and use the apartment pool. I’m really happy Noah was off so he and Emma could come. She has had classes, work, a new house, a new marriage, and a new schedule all landing at once, and I think she needs a regular Sunday afternoon with friends more than she would ever ask for one.
Honestly, I may need it too.
I have struggled more over the last few days with anxiety. Nothing profound. No big episode. No dramatic collapse. Just that constant tension under the surface, like part of my mind is standing in the hallway listening for something to go wrong.
That led me back to Psalm 23.
Psalm 23:1 NIV says, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”
I have read that verse many times, but this week I noticed how much peace is built into it. David does not say the valley disappears. He does not say the enemies vanish. He does not say life becomes easy because the Shepherd is near.
He says he lacks nothing.
That is different.
The Shepherd leads. The Shepherd restores. The Shepherd stays close in the valley. The Shepherd prepares a table even when everything around us does not feel safe.
For someone with anxiety, that matters.
Sometimes I want God to remove every reason I might feel afraid. But Psalm 23 reminds me that peace is not always the absence of fear. Sometimes peace is being led through fear by Someone who knows the path better than I do.
So today, I am going to church. Then I am going to Jordan’s apartment. I am going to sit with friends, eat snacks, maybe get in the pool, and let the day be ordinary.
Still waters do not always look impressive.
But they restore the soul.
I hope your Sunday gives you a little restoration too.
See you soon.

JORDAN’S POOL by Emma Vale
Hey everybody! Me and Noah went to church with Cindi and Michael, then everyone came out to Collierville. We're all at the pool at Jordan's apartment complex.
I’m not going to talk much this time. I just wanted to say we’re all here having a lot of fun. I’ve said before that it’s real nice knowing some people in the area.
Even if we don’t get to spend a lot of time together, getting texts and calls now and then means a lot. Jordan’s really great about doing that!
Hayes and Roman got back from Australia yesterday. All I can say about that is that it must be pretty amazing to travel for work like that.
We’re all going to swim for a while, then go back to Jordan’s apartment. She and Carter made up a taco bar plus rice and refried beans.
Noah says he can’t wait.
I said he has to! Just joking, you know.
Thanks for reading my story! See you next time!
