A member said, “A follow up photo idea maybe.....Hayes out of the tub drying off…”

By the time Hayes finished soaking in the tub, she felt more like herself again. The hot water had done what she needed it to do. It quieted the noise in her mind, eased the tension out of her shoulders, and gave her a little pocket of calm in the middle of a trip that had pulled her body clock halfway around the world.

She stepped out reluctantly, dried off, and wrapped herself in a towel, carrying that relaxed, slightly drowsy feeling with her. The room was quiet. The bed looked inviting. The whole hotel seemed to be holding its breath in the middle of the night.

Hayes knew she was still not truly on local time. That part would probably come back to haunt her when she needed to be sharp and alert for the next day’s meetings. There was every chance she would lie there wide awake for a while, staring at the ceiling and waiting for sleep to become a reasonable idea.

Even so, she decided not to fight the moment by overthinking it. The bath had helped. She felt peaceful. That was enough.

So she carried that calm with her to the bed, settled in, and let herself try. If sleep came quickly, good. If it took a while, that would be fine too. For the moment, she allowed herself the luxury of being warm, quiet, and unhurried.
