GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

It might be Friday, but it feels more like the day after Thursday to me! Have I used that joke before? I bet I have.

What that means today is that, after an all-day photo session yesterday, I have a lot of writing work to do today—some that I should have done Wednesday once we got home from San Francisco.

About San Francisco… I’ve had a few comments and DMs from you saying you like those kinds of trips. Since I always doubt what I’m doing, it’s really good to get your feedback. I’m not fishing for compliments, but what do you like most about the travel content?

About the photo sessions… Again, I get some comments saying you like them. I also wonder how many are biting their tongue and just scrolling past. If you have any feedback you’d like to share, please do so.

As for yesterday’s session… I did get a specific request to share more images from that session. I’m sharing one as a SPECIAL REQUEST exclusive to Patreon, plus some others later today. I’ll just add a short caption and share some more images.

So, with that, I should get back to my breakfast. And afterward, on to the day. See you later.

CHAPTER TWO LAUNCH by Ailana Geven Keller

I’m calling the morning a success. I got an email from my writing agent, Terrence Holloway, saying he had an editor interested in the Candlestick Point proposal and asking me to push it to completion ASAP.

I also started Chapter Two of Cloudfall. Chapter one ended with the main characters going separately to their residential pods. Here’s what happens next—hope you enjoy it.

Sienna woke up and looked at the clock. She was awake seven minutes before the alarm would go off and that made her happy. Very happy.

She sat up on the bed and swung her feet over the edge. The pod lights brightened slowly in response to her movements. Once standing, she touched the button to raise the bed surface to the top of the space. She told herself she’d pretend she made the bed first, though more often than not, she skipped that.

Below the now-raised bed was the sofa, which served as a place to sit when she folded down the table to eat or use her personal computer. She sat down on the sofa, pulled open the drawer to her left, and selected undergarments and socks for the day. She laid them on the sofa and stood.

One step to her left was the door to the bathroom—a one-square-meter room. A toilet sat to one side. In the middle of the floor was a drain for the shower. Opposite the toilet was a small sink.

After her shower, she paused to start the coffee maker—it sat on the counter on the opposite side of the pod from the sofa-bed. In addition to the coffee maker, there was a two-element stove, a hot-air cooker, a sink, and a combination microwave/convection oven. At the end of the counter was a refrigerator/freezer unit.

Once the coffee was brewing, she dressed and booted up her computer to see where her orders would put her for the day. Once more, her day would start at the main console at Security Station M in the shopping district of Stratus Three.

With Luke.

GOOD NIGHT by Emily Amos

What’s up everyone? Mom said I could write the goodnight chapter!

First off, I don’t call her “Mom.” I just said that to get your attention. Did it work?

I do have a funny story that’s related though.

When I went to get my learner license, Ailana let me talk for myself. I got to the worker and told her what I wanted.

She glanced at my document and said, “You need a parent to sign for you to do this.”

I smiled and nodded at Ailana. “She’s here.”

The worker looked at Ailana. Ailana stepped forward. The worker looked at me, then at her.

“I was thirteen when she was born,” Ailana said as she handed a stack of custody documents to the worker.

No lie… I thought the woman’s eyes were going to burst from their sockets!

“She’s my sister. Our mother was a…” Ailana paused and changed what she was going to say. “She was unfit.”

No lie, low-key, I hope we can pull that joke off again someday! It was awesome!

Well, today is a little AGI Creative giveback day! Ailana and I are at the north end of the road, north of town. Google Maps says we’re at 21040 State Park Rd 100. We’re picking up litter.

So, here’s the cool thing. Compostable trash bags…

Ailana talks about plastic in the environment and how it really sticks around, like, forever. The bags we’re using are compostable. They’re designed to break down instead of sticking around forever like conventional plastic.

File this one under every little bit matters.. Now, the plastic bottle in the bags is another story, but the bags can eventually break down.

That’s it for today! See you tomorrow.

May you be willing to try different things that make the world a better place.

Good night.

Be your best you!

GOOD NIGHT by Emily Amos. Um. Mom?? Yes. Yes. It worked. Ok. Yes, that IS a funny story. It's funny because it mirrors another story that this reader knows. Give back days are part of the AGI story, Emily. Allen Geven taught his daughter by example. Now your sister is teaching you. Thanks for your story. For the photos. For your civic responsibility. For your post.
