GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller
Good morning. I literally have no idea what I said last. I know I told you about the week to come, but I have to go back to see if I promised to talk about anything else…
Looks like I don’t owe you any additional info at this time. Here’s a quick recap…
Wednesday is a travel day to Chicago. The Ryans will introduce Aria to their extended family. The rest of us are going to gather content ideas, notes, and images.
On Thursday, we have a hotel room and a meeting room booked for Naomi’s shoot. Naomi will model with us.
We’ll stay in Chicago through the weekend. Emily already asked if we can go back to the Denny’s in Hebron, so that will probably happen—we have to make sure it’s still open.
In the meantime, I need to get going. My shower calls to me—as do my laptop and a full day of work.
See you soon!

A SUGGESTION by Micah Banks
Let me just jump to the conversation instead of telling you what we said. I think that’s better.
I caught Clay as I was heading out to the SETA factory this morning. “Hey… I have a couple of things to go over…”
Clay was coming over from his house heading to the AGI/SwimFit office on the second floor beside me and Jasmine's condo unit. “What’s up?”
“I need to tap out on Chicago. We have that first big custom imprint order coming in Wednesday. Sofia and I think I should be there. It’s like our first real test of the system and workflow.
Clay nodded. “Okay, that’s smart. Maybe if we end up staying longer you can fly up.”
“Maybe,” I said. “I have another suggestion… idea or something.”
“Okay…”
“What’s the plan for Josh’s condo unit now that they moved?”
Clay shook his head. “Happened so fast, I don’t think anyone brought it up. Why?”
“Here’s an idea… Isaac and Kaylee need a second bedroom and something better than a camper to raise Hudson in. First Call needs more office space than a basket in the camper's galley. I was talking to Allen a couple nights ago over Kraken nachos… You know they use his garage to store supplies?”
“Yeah,” Clay replied. “I see where you’re going…”
I nodded. “Isaac and Kaylee can rent the condo unit and… I mean I know you aren’t officially part of First Call, but you’d want to see them do better… so we can… I mean, can we set them up with a filing cabinet and someplace to keep a computer?”
Clay nodded. “I think it’s a brilliant idea.”
“Do we need to ask the team?”
Clay looked up at the office then shrugged. “I’ll shoot a text to the group. If no one objects, you can make it happen while we get ready and do the Chicago trip. And… Look… no one is going to object, so…”
I nodded. “I’ll give it a day and then talk to Isaac. I’m betting he’ll say yes.”
ALWAYS IN FLUX by Ailana Geven Keller
Me? Yes, I’ve gotten a lot of work done.
Sasha? Mom and Bump have had a busy morning. Let’s say Naomi is responsible.
Today is Monday. Trust me, I checked the calendar before making the claim.
Naomi wants Jasmine and Kaylee to be in Atlanta for a Wednesday photo shoot. No surprise there… She’s been booking them fairly often.
“Um… I’d really like to get Min in on this one,” Naomi said. “Do you think that’s possible?”
Hit pause for a second—being able to offer different looks is a good business position, especially for products with a worldwide customer base. The shoot is basically pretty girls drinking sports drinks. Outfits to match the color of the drink. There’s a—ahem—little beverage company in Atlanta with a worldwide customer base. You can take it from there.
Personally, I think Min is a beautiful model—no qualifiers needed. The client also sees that she has a look that differs from Kaylee and Jasmine and wants to include it.
I suppose we could turn that into some big philosophical discussion about diversity and whether anyone should intentionally think about it. I’m not interested. I like inclusivity. Min is fun and beautiful, and is actually a natural in front of the camera.
Naomi’s client will not be disappointed.
Also… do you remember Mallory Bennett, who came for a boot camp? She’s going to fly up from Miami to be part of the shoot in Atlanta, too. I kinda like how that feels… I got to work with her a few weeks ago. Wednesday, she’s shooting for a client with a worldwide customer base.
Yeah… that happened!
See you tonight! Have a great afternoon.
THE BEST PART by Sofia Torres
A few weeks ago, I learned that the man I’m dating is connected to more money than I can comfortably imagine.
Fifty billion dollars.
I’m getting better at saying that without staring into space afterward.
Ryan, meanwhile, remains Ryan.
Today, Micah and I spent part of the day making sure everything is ready for the first big custom-imprint order coming Wednesday. It matters because we finally get to see the system Clay installed handle a real production job. Ryan asked me about it, listened, and then asked whether anybody needed his truck for anything.
That is Ryan Page.
He can talk about billions and then get excited because somebody needs help moving a sofa. He’ll buy doughnuts for Sunday school because he thinks the kids might like them. He owns nice things when they’re useful, but I’m increasingly convinced that if you handed him a gold-plated television, his first question would be whether the picture was better.
Tonight, we’re just sitting here.
And that may be my favorite part.
A few weeks ago, he said, “It’s not like I’ll have her sign a prenup!”
At the time, I needed someone to explain exactly what a prenup was.
Now I understand the more important part of what he accidentally said.
Ryan has thought about marrying me.
We’re not setting a date. Nobody is calling a wedding planner. Nobody is reserving anything.
But I told Bobby Jenkins, one of the guys at the factory, about the conversation, and he laughed.
“So y’all about fixin’ to be ready to start looking at rings.”
I stared at him.
“That is a ridiculous sentence.”
“You knew exactly what I meant.”
Unfortunately, I did.
I don’t know what happens next. There is still a lot about Ryan’s world I’m learning, and some of it is so far outside anything I ever imagined for myself that I don’t know what to do with it yet.
But the money isn’t the best part.
The best part is that he loves me.
And, for the record, the cuddling is pretty awesome too.
So maybe we are about fixin’ to be ready.
Just don’t ask me what kind of ring yet.
GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller
Good evening, everyone. Checking in from near Lobo Del Mar Cafe—yet one more place I’ve never mentioned!
Jason, Kent, Izzy, and I are out for a walk. We went down Whiting Street to Laguna and headed south. We’ll cut back over to Padre and start back for the condo after this.
Izzy and I have sort of dominated the conversation on the walk. She’s shared some thoughts about Aria and her impact on Kel, Emily, and—a little surprising to me—Jasmine.
“All of them are watching Aria get what they never got at that age. Jasmine aged out of foster care. Emily gave up on ever being adopted and decided friends weren’t going to be around long enough to make them. Kel kept his head down, was passed over on a few adoption opportunities, and hit the lottery two years before he aged out. They all have to relive being eight.”
“But it’s good, right?” I asked.
Izzy shrugged. “On the surface, they are happy for her. But you had an actual dream about how things could have been different for you and Emily… I’m sure part of what they’re processing is how things could have been different if they had been as blessed as Aria.”
“But it’s okay?”
Izzy looked over. “Emily isn’t dwelling on the past. But she’s bound and determined to make sure Aria’s next eight years are better than hers were. I’m not worried about any of them. I just think it’s notable.”
Another notable thing came from the walk. You might recall that living somewhere they felt safe raising kids was part of the reason Kent and Izzy moved here. Between now and having children, of course, will be a wedding.
“We’re thinking it’s time to go ring shopping,” Kent said. “First Call is a solid company. Izzy has a good job and everything is going well.”
Izzy smiled. “We’re thinking about the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.”
Boom…
Good night.
