Great to have the heat-wave event captured for posterity on your Patreon channel. I think we all survived! As always, love starting the weekend proper with your Saturday video.

It was around 32 degrees here so it wasn’t just as bad as England! But I work in the basement of the hospital and in the rooms I work in there’s lots of pipes that have hot water in them, so working was really hard this week because of how hot it was! Also good luck for planning your summer luau subathon! It’s a great idea, if you need any help with planning it I’m happy to help!

Hahaha, the heat fuelled descent into madness, what a fun 2 days it was 😂 Luckily today seems perfect so far, sun & blue sky 😎

Hi Alanna, Monday and Tuesday were definitely not fun. It peaked at 39c for us on Tues afternoon and I spent both days wandering around like a zombie. To add insult to injury we had two common fires with smoke blowing back towards the village, so that finally forced my hand in terms of window shutting - big shout out to Surrey, Hampshire & West Sussex Fire Brigades who all attended in awful conditions and are still up there 'damping down. the undergrowth. Can we go back to traditional British summers please!! PS: I've just finished the book too.

I got that cold brew jug last year based on your recommendation and it's fantastic, so thanks for that! Was a lifesaver during the heatwave.

Humidity is awful, 25℃ and 80% RH here at present, heavy overcast and light rain, a soft day, time for a cool bath if the cold water is cool, has been up to 24⁰ from the storage tank lately, that's public swimming pool temp. A nice hot Espresso then the cool bath. One should never drink ice cold drinks in hot weather as are a shock to the stomach which is at body temp, cold drinks should be about 10℃ at their coldest, that's cellar temperature and drunk slowly. How's your electric bill, mine has doubled in a year inspite of only using the large draw appliances during the 9hr. cheap night period, I never use the cooker or oven during the peak rate 5 - 7pm. period, even the insect-o-cuter is turned off then (on a time switch). I've become a night owl, it's cooler then and the windows can be opened. All major cooking and baking done at night and chilled or frozen to be reheated when required. Dreadin g the coming winter, hopefull the gas boiler can stay off until mid November, I'll just have to make sure the woodshed is filled this autumn.

Hi Alanna, that was fun, at least you have air con in your bedroom. Laying on the floor is a good idea warm air rises so the floor is the coolest place. Let's hope no more heatwaves this year.

As I am one of the "Older People" I was dreading the heatwave! However, I remembered my 2 summers in Australia where they shut all windows and draw curtains/blinds 'till it gets reasonable again, which could be weeks! It worked for me as it never got above 25 in here, 38 outside!

Oops, hit the wrong key! (Senile, you see!). Any road up, I'm planning a trip to Aylesford sometime next week. I'll try and get some photos of "The Little Gem" (Opened in 10-something etc. It's my nephew's local, so he can buy me a beer! Finally, what the hell is a Luau?

Hope you have a great time in Aylesford! We're having a Summer Luau livestream on Twitch Aug 26-28. I'll be live for basically the entire weekend so we've starting planning it out now on our Discord chatroom! Even if you're not a Twitch member, it's still free to watch (I'll post more details when it's closer to the time for people who want to join)

I closed my windows after about 11am on Mon/Tues. I was just letting hot air blow into my apartment so there was no point. Just sat around the house with Hello fresh icepacks in my lap. XD
