Saw you debating to buy it, cool that you followed through! Can't wait for you to see how much darker it is when they're not forcing the anime to be marketable towards children, live read-throughs would be dope

Oh My God, look at that.... welcome to the family welcome to the guild

I've never seen Fairy Tail but I've been considering watching it here; whats the consensus on it?

It's a very fun series with well-written characters. Lots of fanservice. The women are actually relevant to the story and have their own character arcs. Sometimes the plot itself can be repetitive. I thoroughly enjoy the series and am watching it for about the fifth time with these guys.

Seconded.

It's definitely worth going through the series in both the anime and the manga. The manga is less kid-friendly and a bit grittier. For example, in one particular scene involving Lisanna, the manga has her naked, while the anime has her clothed. The anime removed a scene at a hot spring involving the entire main team bathing together and replaced it with a barbeque. The anime also censors quite a fair bit of blood from the manga. Then there's the fact that the manga has quite a few omakes that the anime never adapted. On the other hand, the anime has some of the best OSTs in the industry, and some pretty impactful voice acting, too. It has two canon arcs that the author wanted to include but couldn't, and two really entertaining movies that are also canon. So, with just watching the anime or just reading the manga, you'd be missing out on some really good stuff.

Agreed, most of the times in fandoms when people talk about how superior the manga is for them, (due to phenomenal artwork and complete utilisation of the medium), I find myself being unable to agree because typically the anime adaptations mentioned in these conversations have amazing soundtracks. Fairy Tail has the very best IMO, so it isn't a question of "which is better" for me.

Apricot

I'll have to start watching it then! I was between that or Berserk, because I think I would like that manga a lot but I have also heard that the anime is not very good so I have been mixed on that....

Apricot

93 anime? Like 1993 or what?

Apricot

Oh duh lol idk why I forgot the context immediately thank you lol. Cool another thing to watch
