    PocketTube: Youtube Subscription Manager
Jesse Van Duffelen While I'm at it... I'd love to see shorts handled more consistently in Subscription Groups. With 'All Videos' on, filter set to 'Videos, Live, Short' and sort set to Video Length (either one), shorts
    PocketTube: Youtube Subscription Manager Creator

Yes, it’s a technical limitation. We don’t have the exact time for shorts, so it’s the reason why we’re not showing them when sorting by Video Length. Also, we had a previous option to detect watched videos on shorts, but YouTube discontinued it, so we also hide it under the filter.

Thank you for sharing! Unfortunately, we can’t detect the region-restricted video to exclude it from the list, because of YouTube restrictions. As a workaround, you can exclude the entire channel from the list. If we find a way to do it, it’ll be in a future version

You’re right, there is an inconsistency between Subscription groups and Deck. It should be hidden from Deck when the watched filter is enabled due to the inability to get the watched state. I’ve added it to the new version, and it’ll be available soon.

There is a bug for a while now and it started to annoy me now, so I am writing about it - sometimes, when I open youtube, and want to search something quickly, I click on the search bar, start typing, and I am able only to type in 1 letter, and the focus shifts to the field to add a new subscription group, and I end up adding new group instead of searching for videos

Are you not using groups at all? Just create one group, and after that, the input field will not be shown in the left sidebar at all. By default, we set focus to the input because, after installing the subscriptions extension, it’s an easier way for users to create the first group.

I am not using groups at all. Ok, I will create one to fix this issue

I’ve noticed that after approx. 8PM MST (2AM UTC), the subscription group doesn’t show any videos for most filtering options. In the attached screenshot, I have:

    • The length filter set to all,
    • The video type filter set to “Videos”, “Live”, “Upcoming”, and “Shorts”,
    • The date filter set to “this week”,
    • The subscription group set to “All Videos”, not “Unwatched”,
    • The Sort by set to “Date Added (Newest)”, but I did try all 5 sort options with the same result.

The only way I am able to get anything to show is by setting the Date filter to All, after which it only shows nameless shorts, which were all posted over a year ago. See the screenshot in the thread reply under this message, which is set to All Dates, and Sort By Date Added Most Recent, where the topmost video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkIyIQ7c7pU, posted a year ago.

Even if that same subscription group was displaying dozens of videos earlier that same day, and shows everything again the next morning around 7:30AM MST (1:30PM UTC).

Thank you for letting me know! It’s more like some YouTube updates, because it’s not reproducible on my side, and we didn’t update anything during that timeframe.

If they’re rollout the update for everyone, we’ll add supporting it on the extension side, but it looks like it’s not available yet.

In Firefox the folders don’t seem to work as they supposed. Chanels I have in the sub folders appear in the main folder as well sometimes.

What do you mean? Could you please send a screenshot? If you mean the video feed, it’s expected because when you open the main folder, it includes videos from all subfolders

I’ve noticed this happening during that time frame every day that I’ve checked it in the past couple weeks at least, so I don’t think it would be related to you updating it during that timeframe.

I’ll keep an eye out to see if anything changes on my end as well, but the YouTube update seems like the most likely culprit then, thanks!!

My only other thought was that if fetching the video data happens on a server, rather than on my local machine, maybe the server has some downtime around then? But if opening the https://www.youtube.com/#ysm-group-title=My%20Group page is supposed to fetch all the info through my local instead, then I’m not sure what would be causing that.

We don’t use our server for this type of data, we collect it from YouTube RSS and then from the YouTube api. Maybe the YouTube RSS isn’t working when you have the issue:
    https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCCj956IF62FbT7Gouszaj9w

Please check the url, is’t showing data or not? However, even if the YouTube RSS is not working, it should use the YouTube api instead.

As a workaround, I can suggest using a group filter on the page https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions It doesn’t depend on RSS and api, please check whether it is working or not when the issue occurs again.

Yep, the RSS feed is down, and looks like its been semi-consistent issue since Dec. 2025 (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1r61jpo/all_youtube_channel_rss_feeds_are_down_return_404/) with an uptime tracker here if you’re curious: https://stats.uptimerobot.com/v6szxXApfC/802909356

The subscription feed with a channel group filter does work, so I’ll just use that if/when I’m looking for it lol. Thanks!!

Thank you for sharing! We use the internal YouTube API as a fallback when RSS is down, maybe the API has also some issue too.
Anyway, I’ll try to investigate it in the next timeframe and get back to you if I get any updates.

I tried removing the channels from the main folder and putting them only in the subfolder I point to and as I removed the last one somehow it made all channels reapear in the main folder once again.

Tried to reproduce the issue, but no luck under my accounts. Could you please open the URL https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions/UCCj956IF62FbT7Gouszaj9w and check whether it’s showing videos or not. If videos are there, press Ctrl+S and save the HTML file. Please send it to hello@pockettube.io I suspect maybe YouTube may have a new layout under some accounts, and PocketTube can’t recognize it, but I need to verify

I set up some groups in Firefox and they are not showing in Chrome. Is all that stuff local to individual browsers?
