Slingshotting is when a ship uses a planet’s gravity to accelerate around its curvature, escaping on the other side at a greater speed. The closer the flight is to the planet, the greater the gravity-assisted speed up. But too close, and friction from the atmosphere could burn the ship - which is what apparently happened to Bizi.
