It does often come a slight suprise to NuWho viewers that The Doctor had a family once. It helps to inform new views at the same time as the companion. When the show began, and without going into specifics, unless asked. There was a strong indicator of the presence of a family in their history. References to this are now loosely mentioned. Much like historic foes and past events. Some are blatant, and there are those that fly more under the radar, as nods to classic and easter eggs. Some things may remain a mystery. But then, the title is a question. So that might be fitting.
