I'm sooo glad I watched this! Also because of how many references still use this movie. I just listened to someone mentioning how they achieved something and it was like getting a golden ticket to visit the Willy Wonka factory and I was like: HELL YES, I KNOW THIS! :D

Do I need to watch the next one too, the Charlie one? :)

I just re-watched this with you, and here are my thoughts. This is a childhood favorite of mine that I've seen definitely over a dozen times, and it never gets old, never gets boring. Even act one with everyone looking for the golden tickets, I love it all. I'm a huge fan of Gene Wilder (and you should watch "Young Frankenstein" if you haven't already). The opening allways [sic] made me crave chocolate. The songs are so memorable for me, so I clearly have stated that I have so much love for this film. But. I feel like the remake was hated on too much. I say, watch it. It gives some background and reason for Willy Wonka's obsession with chocolate. Jhonny Depp, (who I don't particularly like as a person) does give an interesting performance, much more impish prankster than Gene. The Oompaloompa songs are hot nasty garbage, but the rest of Danny Elfman's soundtrack is super good. Tim Burton's directing was well executed and the acting by both children and adults was also good. Again, I'm not comparing it to the original, I'm taking them separately. I will say that too much CGI made me like it less. Practical effects are so much better. Anyway, sorry for taking up all this time, I hope you and the babe are well!

You should should watch more musicals Mary. How about My Fair Lady? I think you'll like that one.
