Here we are. Please remember that there will be crashes and bugs. It occurs on the console more than emulator. I plan to fix this over time. Please do not share this beta ROM publicly. Once all bugs are squashed and the game runs without issue, I will release a final version V3 publicly for free. I plan to release frequent beta updates. Possibly weekly.

To allow the game to load, you NEED to copy the save file to the save folder on your emulator or Everdrive. This is to avoid more unauthorized cartridge production sales

- For Everdrive, make sure the ROM and save file are named the same, besides the file extension.

- For PJ64, if your setting for (Options/Configuration/General Settings/Advanced/"Store game saves in separate folders") is off, place your .fla file in the root of the save folder. If your setting is on, it would be best to allow the game to create its own save folder by loading the game, closing the emulator and replacing the .fla it creates with the one provided, then start the emulator back up.

- For Retro Arch .srm files, I'm unfamiliar with the process. I'd appreciate a community member providing how to place the file properly on their end.

I prayed for this and it happened

Miguel Garcia

The day I've long been awaiting for has finally arrived. God is good.

Andrew Jones

40 mins in and cannot get to work on any emulator on android, classic boy has worked a treat for all previous versions, any help greatly appreciated 👍

Retro Randy Price

I think android needs an .sra file. I'm trying to get one made. Sorry, the save file swapping is new to me.

Andrew Jones

Sure there is a solution, hopefully one can be found, having issues with the SD card on my everdrive so for now am relying on my phone

Miguel Garcia

I got it to install on my Everdrive ! Just gonna run some errands then come home and play

JB

I have WWF No Mercy (U) (V1.0) [!].z64. Is that the same as WWF No Mercy (U) [!].z64? I ran that through Xdelta patcher but the output file came out as just file not a Z64

Retro Randy Price

Still looking into this, it doesn't seem to be an immediate fix.

JB

It works. I ran it through the patcher again and added .z64 at the end of the file name

Ralph

How to make it work on steam deck ?

grimmenace

Doesn't work on an Everdrive x7 regardless of what I tried. It just gives me a black screen, the fla is properly placed, the games been patched and I named it correctly as well to match the save. I also tried re-patching it with a different patcher, messed with the Everdrive settings, still no luck. The original unpatched rom I'm using also works fine and its v1 not 1.1. Not sure what the issue is or what I can do to solve it. I tried the game on Project 64 and it works fine, so that means there's a combability issue with the Everdrive. Edit: I loaded a different game, reset the console, and it worked BUT its random, it works less often than it does on an x7 like Randy has mentioned in a post. Most of the time it sits on a black screen.

grimmenace

Has this been already tested on an Everdrive? Because it fails to run on an Everdrive x7 but works fine in Project 64. Anyways thanks for the hard work, hopefully the issue can be solved. Edit: I loaded a different game, reset the console, and it worked BUT its random, it works less often than it does on an x7 like Randy has mentioned in a post. grimmenace

You installed it, but does it even work on your Everdrive? It doesn't work for me at all on mine, just on Project 64.

valiant_defiant_570

Incredible work Randy - thank you!! I know the manual for it considers it unsupported, but is there a tutorial somewhere that details how to work with this inside of VPW Studio?

Miguel Garcia

I’m running it on EverDrive right now. Did you make sure to name both the save file and file itself as the same thing apart from the .fla and .z64 ?

Retro Randy Price

VPWS info won’t be available until the final V3 release. Not for betas.

grimmenace

Yes its 1.0 and its z64. I'm using Everdrive x7. Just sits on a black screen, tried a different rom, renamed it several different times etc. Same problem.

grimmenace

Yes they're named the same, works fine on Project 64 but fails to load for me on the Everdrive. I'm using an Everdrive x7. I tried repatching, renaming, using a different rom etc., same issue. At this point I'm not even sure what to do, especially when the games working in an emulator but not on the Everdrive.

grimmenace

Ok, so there's a problem with the game running on Everdrives, I went into community chat and Randy posted this: On Everdrive 64 2.5 OS 2.12, if the game won’t load, load a different game, power off the console for 30 seconds, try the beta rom again. Everdrive X7 seems to load the game less often. Currently, the best performance is on PJ64

grimmenace

Ok, so for anyone trying this on an Everdrive, there's a problem with the game running on them. I got it to randomly work by loading a different game, reset my console and then tried the beta, but its a hit or miss, it usually works less often than it does. Interesting as I have had zero issues loading with my X7, and since you have it working elsewhere it would seem to be patched correctly. I think the answer is no, but does No Mercy Plus utilize the N64 Expansion Pak?

grimmenace

I did what Randy said, its basically a hit or miss. Sometimes the game will work, sometimes it won't. I loaded a different game in x7, reset the console and it worked, but its random, sometimes it will launch, sometimes it won't. But it loads less often for me on x7 like Randy mentions. Most of the time it sits on a black screen.

KBorg

Will it be possible to import CAWs from a mempak in the final release?

KBorg

Also I was able to get the .fla file working on Rosalie's Mupen GUI. Just had to rename the .fla you provide to match the one the game auto generates and it worked.

Retro Randy Price

Mem paks aren’t compatible with older games versions. I removed mem paks usage and don’t plan to include it. The game regularly changed and it would just be an issue of loading incorrectly in the future.

Retro Randy Price

Oh no mercy doesn’t. NM+ does require the expansion pak. What OS version is on your x7?

Hungry

Thanks for the clarification. I'd assume a lack of expansion pak is the issue for most everdrive players who can't get the game to boot

RGT 85

The tables man. So beautiful. Throwing Raven into them with Tazplexes. My God.

Retro Randy Price

I'm not familiar with the steam deck save file. When loading the game, it should write a new one. Can you send the save file you have for steam deck?

Retro Randy Price

That could be a reason but there is a consistent issue with loading the ROM. Let me know what OS you have on your X7? Mine doesn't load every time on 2.5 but seems to never load on X7.

grimmenace

I'm using an expansion.

grimmenace

Version 3.07, although there's also a newer 3.08 firmware for Everdrive x7 which I tried as well and it doesn't seem to change the issue. The beta is loading here and there, but very randomly, 80% of the time I get a black screen, it helps a bit when I load a different game first and then reset the console before trying the beta but that doesn't work every time.

Nick T

How can I get this running on Mac with OpenEmu?

Retro Randy Price

I'm unfamiliar with that. What does the save file format look like?

dude1018

thank you kindly

dude1018

the rom starts like all the other rom hacks, but then goes to invalid save file. i put all three save file variants into the save file folder of the emulator used by emudeck but still the same problem. there also was not a new one created already.

dude1018

yeah, found this and some other helpful tipps, SD emudeck uses retroArch, found the save folder, also the savefile gnerated, replaced it - still same error message at launch - you got it working?!

Ricky Spanish

Randy! I told you I would be a patreon. Had some bills to clear up

Ricky Spanish

Happy to be here you awesome piece of man meat!

Ricky Ashwin-Price

Hi Nick I'm running an older version of OpenEmu as my OS won't allow me to update and only get a black screen when booting the rom. It's running on mupen64plus as a core. Do you get the error message because if you do, go to the mac library folder then application support folder, the openemu folder, then mupen64plus folder, then battery saves folder and then copy after you have booted the game and got the error message there should be a save which will be the name of your patched rom followed by (unknown rom).fla so mine is "WWF No Mercy PLUS V3 (unknown rom).fla" then take the project 64 save that RRP has provided in the download and change it to the above save name and paste it in the directory and it should work in theory

Nick T

Thanks Ricky, I have tried this but just get a black screen. What version of OpenEmu are you running? I might try and downgrade

Ricky Ashwin-Price

I get a black screen aswell as I think it's the last one compatible with high Sierra I thought a later version of openemu running a later build of mupen64 might have worked. I have got it to run with a mupen64plus mac emulator with some sort of front end called m64py but cannot configure the controls to a pad.

Ricky Ashwin-Price

Trying to get this to work with as many emulators as possible on as many different devices. I don't think you can use it with a Wii with homebrew installed as both the not64 and wii64 app keep overwriting the save file on loadup don't know why but it's very frustrating haha

Sean Dwyer

What a fantastic project! I play it on RetroArch (running the Batocera front end). I was eventually able to get the ROM to accept my SRM file, but I ended up needing to convert the PJ64 FLA file provided using the PJ64toSRM program (https://github.com/heuripedes/pj64tosrm) and then changing both the newly converted SRM save file and ROM names to "WWF No Mercy PLUS V3."

Alex Key

Love this project. Played the beta briefly yesterday and cant wait to spend more time playing it. One quick thought. Is there a way to have one certain section of the audience always let you grab a table? The tables are such an amazing addition and would be cool if there was a way to get them consistently and even multiple tables from one spot without having to cycle through various weapon grabs to get them. Super looking forward to HIAC in v4 or whenever that comes out. Keep up the incredible work!

Retro Randy Price

I would like to eventually add a better way to acquire a table. I have a few ideas but I'll wait until I'm working on V4, where the focus will be arenas and matches.

Ralph

Nope.

Rodney Wingate

It took me a while and some troubleshooting but for anyone trying to play on the steam deck, you have to covert the PJ64 Fla file to SRM. Label them the same and it boots right up.

Alex Rojas

This is awesome. Makes me wonder why I ever stopped playing this game to begin with. Time to get move hacking again

DJ Dana G

i need help trying to get it to work on retroarch

Adaryll Turner

are we able to move our saved data from previous versions? I realize I'm probably asking for too much lol. Just want to know
