I'm close to completing Animation Editor V5. The updates include so many things. Toki 1 and 2 editing, live move previews with sound, etc. and settings for repeating move previews, just to name a few. This will help the community pump out more animations. I expect to be done with it by the end of this week. The first thing I plan to do after this is add a lot of moves to NM+. The community has made many animations that the original NM roster was missing. Crash's corner bulldog, double team moves like the double chokeslam, etc. I'll be strict on these though, they'll have to fall within the timeframe and the roster/new portraits. I'll save other animations for their respective projects.

Double chokeslam? OMG! THANK YOU for the update. You rock!

Donny

Wow, that's exciting news. So, would we finally get moves like. Bulldogs running powerslam. Triple H's neckbreaker and DDT. Bob Backlunds grounded crossface chickenwing. Oh Slaughter was around as well. An actual cobra clutch and Ravens Knee lift. Ok, ill stop 😆 🤣

Frank Jaeger

What Donny said, ESP the finishers. ...& any more that also should've been in NM: - Shamrock's: bodylock slam, Fujiwara/Rolling kneebar takedowns into AnkleLock - Reverse TwistofFate A list of completed/planned move additions would be cool, and even cooler after that, relaying fan move suggestions or doing polls - strictly within time frame, & of course if the coder community is open to task

Retro Randy Price

Most of those are planned for sure. If it fits the timeframe and roster, list anything you can think of.

Retro Randy Price

Good suggestions. The list of completed animations are currently massive. Some need fine tuning but many are ready. I'll start making a list as I add them to the game. There are limits of course, I expanded the move slot options on many move categories but some are only by a few. The great thing about the ani editor is you don't have to be a coder to create animations, it just takes some practice is all. The community is pretty open to attempting suggestions and we all share the files. I'll certainly relay ideas.

Donny

Will do! What is the time frame for the timeline? There are a few wrestlers who transitioned some finishers I know.

Hungry

This is amazing stuff, really appreciate the work you and the community have put in to get things to this point.

Hungry

Some move suggestions would be Gangrel's Blood Mist (just the Poison Mist animation but always red), a pinning Banzai Drop (maybe better worked as a corner grapple), Yoko's uranage (good in game options, but not quite the killer hitch/snap he had) and Road Warriors corner flex taunt. The missing Revenge moves/in ring entrance taunts. If you're willing to entertain some earlier guys, Warrior (CAW parts in base game) rope shaking as a corner and/or apron taunt, Air Pillman/springboard clothesline and Jake's DDT (sold flat on stomach instead of DDT 01s flip) and short arm clothesline

Frank Jaeger

I think it's just for the NoMercy time period of about '98 - '00. But... ....if there aren't any future projects set for this specific time period, I hope CAW parts/moves for some prominent WCW/ECW'ers of that time do make it in...which would include WCW's Warrior, and Jake from late '98 ECW.

Frank Jaeger

Awesome; thnx! "you don't have to be a coder to create animations" - oh shiii! Off to Discord; who's coming with me?!!

Hungry

I understand that time period is the intent. My logic is between the 6 AKI games just about every major American and Japanese wrestler of the 90s has their moves/taunts animated. The intent would be covering off the few WWF (as this is a WWF game) stars from the 90s who because of timing we're missed. We're already getting Goldust, Yoko and to a lesser extent Slaughter with the extra portraits. That leaves by my estimation Warrior, Jake, Owen and Sid as the major WWF stars who were missed. Further to this, with Backlund (and Yoko + Slaughter) every WWF champion from Backlunds reign in 78 through release of the game will have been included/animated outside of Warrior, Sid and Iron Sheik

JB

Not sure it fits the timeline but a few things I’d like to see.. Cactus Clothesline: Opponent on the ropes. Running clothesline takes both wrestler over the ropes to the floor Knockout Punch: Strong/Special grapple move (with or without brass knucks) Short-Arm clothesline: Super classic grapple move that could fit in any era Regal Stretch: Great ground submission that does fit the 98-00 time window Poison mist should be available as counter-move and a non-special grapple Some other things that I think would be HUGE: Knockouts, submissions, and pins in cage matches Assign pyro to entrances Wear championship belts on entrances for Exhibition matches. Add Championship belts as entrance attires/props (preferably an additional field, separate from attires/props)

JB

A little more on that Knockout Punch idea, since there are already several punch combo finishers. I was thinking something like the Power Clothesline front special but make it end with a punch instead of a clothesline.

Donny

These should all fit into the timeline (in guessing nothing past 2000) you are going for. Bulls version of the scissors kick Bubbas Avalanche Sitout Powerbomb from the middle turnbuckle Bubba Cutta (the way he performs it instead of using the diamond cutter animation) Devons flapjack (the off the rope and standing version) and Testify (his neckbreaker from the middle turnbuckle) Edges unique spear and the edge o matic Hardcore Holly's unique falcon arrow. Ivorys Moretti Driver Kanes falling powerbomb Taka's actual unique Michinoku Driver The Rocks version of the sharpshooter. Takers actual over the top rope suicide dive

Donny

Oh, I forgot Crash. He wasn't doing Crash Landing (Styles Clash) until 02 i believe but he had used Crash Course (Kryptonite Krunch) in OVW and a few matches in WWF proper.

Frank Jaeger

Good list! *scroll to 12&09/12/22 for stage pyro My #1 wish was custom counters for all! ex. Tajiri-mist-counter-to-the-powerbomb, Van Dam splits, etc but Randy noted that each wrestler getting his/her own specific counters would take an overhaul of system coding on top of resource limitation...effectively not feasible. But, just like in past aki, 1. I assume it can be part of a normal move, a faux-counter, like Kidman's face-buster-counter-to-the-powerbomb front grapple. 2. Or better yet (?) w/ counter choice situations (ex kick catch to: dragon screw leg whip/push down/spinebuster, etc) maybe one could set a chosen counter move for a desired wrestler

Hungry

The mist powerbomb counter is actually a thing at least. No Mercy has 3 inaccessible (outside Romhacking or codes) counter styles in addition to the 3 you can select. These were all in Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 and it's not clear why you can't choose them in the base game as they are fully in tact. Shamrock and Rios actually each have one (Heavy Special and Light-Heavy Special) and the third is specifically for Great Muta (so perfect for Tajiri) and includes the mist counter to powerbomb. Randy's prior posts indicated these will be selectable in addition to the inaccessible computer AI

Frank Jaeger

right. I wish it were the case for all wrestlers, not just a handful of categories. It would really add alot of personalization. I guess those wanting will have to make diff rom versions - each with their wrestler specific custom counters taking up the available few slots. Still am very thankful for the expansion, of course.

Frank Jaeger

scroll down to the 04/10 update post! ;D

Frank Jaeger

totally get the desire to couple the already made/seen animations with their respective CAW parts for sure. The added exceptions you noted to that two year+ parameter...imo is the creator's discretion, and just a bonus to any like-minded fans. IIRC in checking out the discord, there was at least one of that 90's era theme in production from the community there. I think its a easy bet to be shared. All the more reason to join in, or have our boi Randy, relay any heavily-hoped-for suggestions.

Frank Jaeger

scroll down to 08/14/22 for Bubba's super bomb & I fully agree with the personalizing of copied moves (Bubba Cutter, Rock's Shooter, etc.), the difference in how they did it adds ALOT more than the simple limb/posture etc. changes themselves. It's important. I once suggested more posture to the ending of an already made Canadian-Maple-Leaf, as it's ending is identical to the single-leg crab that's available.

JB

Here’s an idea. How about being able to unload your own entrance music and Titantron? I’m assuming all you’d need is an upload tool and a couple spare slots in the tron and theme sections that could be left editable?

Tim

Any difference in the chokeslams between kane and undertaker? How about a new Jackknife ppwerbomb that actually nails it this time.

Retro Randy Price

I have made two new choke slams. They might be in one of the previous posts. If not I’ll preview them here when I add them to NM+. An updated Jackknife will likely be postponed for WCW Starrcade.

Retro Randy Price

Trons are tricky and I haven’t made room for more. I might do this eventually. Themes however already have many extra slots for those who know how to add more.

Hungry

With several of the default move animations being based off specific real life moments is there any thought of incorporating something similar for some of the new animations. I'm sure there'd be plenty of options, but things I can think of would be a front special for Butterbean modeled off his WM15 KO of Bart Gunn and giving Earl Hebner a taunt modelled after him calling for the bell at Survivor Series 97. Other thoughts for future projects would be a piledriver for Owen modelled after him breaking Austin's neck. I could probably do without the finger poke of doom for Starrcade though

Retro Randy Price

I like those ideas. The Owen piledriver was made a while ago so that ones in the bag.

Donny

Hey, I had a question. Is the move suggestions only for WWF talent for the time period? Could we suggest missing moves from the Virtual Pro Wrestling cast that No Mercy is based on. Maybe only the licensed All Japan Talent so it won't be too much. Then we could have the off the top turnbuckle Burning Hammer, Kawadas High Angle half crab with foot stomps, Takayamas Everest German Suplex (which someone created perfectly) for example.

Hungry

That's awesome on the Owen front. I'll be sure to throw any others I come up with, but can't think of much that would work. Maybe the Tyson counter punch at WM14. We could also use a top rope gutwrench suplex (Benoit's finish to win the 94 Super J Cup)
