It helps with planning, blueprints and layouts. For your iron bars to iron plates, take your two smelters and run their conveyors into splitters. Send one split into its own constructor (#1 & #2) and then send the second split into a merger (usually placed between the two) that then runs into its own constructor (#3). It eliminates the spaghetti junction you found yourself with!

While this technically will send a 50/50 split of resources out of each splitter, they will self regulate when they fill up with raw input materials

Hi Biffa. I think you are looking at outputs and thinking they are inputs.. the iron plates... the constructers use 30 ingots and output 20 plates.. so you just need one miner split to two smelters that each go to one constructor each without the spag.. the calculator web site someone else posted is a great planning tool. Satisfactory is a great game. I have 600 or 700 hours in it but am still rubbish at it heh.. but I do have fun and thats all i am after out of a game. Looking forward to the second vid in the series.

Hi Biffa. I am bloody new to Satisfactory and missing the very early start in your video - this level 0 tutorial with the HUB upgrades. Maybe it’s automatically skipped by the game if you had already done once. Maybe you can pull out a beginner video #0 for the series with some explanations 🙂
