I feel like the stakes in this campaign came in 3 tiers: Silly little guys running around with a vaguely threatening gang hounding them, then an anarcho-capitalist scumbag corporation controlling everything behind the scenes and scheming (originally seeming like they were looking to expand their influence and shaft the nonhumans), and then finally religious nutcases planning to literally destroy everything established within the setting as a whole. The whole mountain arc felt like its own thing for the most part, like when a TV show takes a break from the main plot to go do something semantically related — almost a filler arc, if it weren’t for the couple of tie-ins it had (delaying Runt’s death, revealing that magic was real, and getting Runt to Cogtopolis). Speaking as a DM, I don’t think I could have done it better myself.

Ok, I don’t care if you save it for a future one shot or something but if the smokestacks don’t get to do a steam sledding race after everything is said and done that is a missed opportunity. That is the plot line I would like to see wrapped up

I agree with Ferronix, I don't think it'll fit in with the plot now obv, but I'd be super excited to see a "Team SmokeStack" race against the other teams, it'd be very fun

i could totally be misreading the message of the campaign, but to me, the entire story of Wonderlust feels like it circles around the idea of: how will you leave your mark on the world? runt is leaving her mark by INVENTING TELEPORTATION, something no one has ever been able to do. she invented a pair of lungs for herself and defied the odds of her early death. shes invented things that not even the invenotr herself could create, shes leading the way of the younger generation, making sure they all still have a world to live in. her mark is her creativity and genius. troy, despite lowkey being a dick in the beginning (and is still kind of crazy), he broke away from that and chose to form real connections, to have friends, to help stop a potential genocide, despite his frazzled ideology in the beginning. his mark is his empathy and his choice to defy the status quo of being afraid of reclaimites. blink has met so many people, we’ve seen it throughout the story, he seems to know someone everywhere. being able to give clarity to big after they beat onyx, being able to get through to janis, reconnecting with aeon time and time again, and of course, his story with candle. these connections have helped show people thats theres always another way, even if its bleak. his mark is his compassion and his genuine connections. WD was always ripleys assistant, always a part of someone elses story. even though she is still looking for her, she is finally getting her own story, shes becoming so much more than just the inventors right hand, even though thats what she’ll always be in her heart. shes found people who want to keep the world safe, to keep everyone in it safe. shes found people who see her as her own person, her and runt have formed such an important connection together, two girls who have so many ideas that could change the world. WD has held onto hope for months that ripley, the person who holds her heart in their hands, is still out there. her mark is her love and her perseverance. every single character has made a mark on this world, ripley most of all, with her world-changing inventions. i truly think this story was about how these characters made their mark on Wonder and Reclaim.
