Every time Peter becomes slightly less sad, it gets ripped from him. Get all confident because he got money? Immediately loses all of it. Get even more confident because he got laid? Dies. He was probably safer in the first episode when everything sucked for him all the time, because at least then none of his nonexistent friends had a magic soul-stealing sword that they could stick in his chest. EDIT: I completely forgot about him losing his first and only raise a few hours later.

I'm devastated. I dont even know what to do bro. I took a break from Prime Defenders to watch Apotheosis because I saw the break between s2 ep 12 and 13 (?) And realized the 6 month break was to record Apotheosis. So I decided to take that break as well. Wtf man. Wtf.

Fun fact for all you new listeners! Bizly stated in one of the previous rolls (I believe it was the 10th) that Thanatos leveled up and became immune to being frightened. The spell used on him, Enemies Abound, specifically has no effect if the person it is used on is immune to being frightened. Do with this information what you will!

True, but I think it was just a general screw-up since Condi didn't seem to take that point into consideration, meaning that if Bizly wasn't familiar with the spell he wouldn't have even known that was an option in the first place. The real lesson here is read your spells fully, not just to the point where it does the thing you want it to do.

(riptide 74 spoilers) so yes, both thanatos and rumi will probably grow from this experience. did rumi need to be wrong? yes. did thanatos need to learn empathy and emotion? yes. would it make sense for peter to stay dead? yes. but can I lose both of my Charlie Slimecicle(TM) Comfort Characters within the same week? absolutely not please bring peter back I can't handle this rn

Funny enough, Peter dying isn't as much of a development for his own character as it is for Thanatos. Bizly finally got to reach that point in his character where the "Kill Kill Kill" mindset finally backfired and proved itself not enough.

entirely likely that you guys have already recorded the next episode and this comment will have no weight on what you do with rumi's 12th level spell, but i've always thought of the crew levelling up as happening during/after the long rests that usually occur sometime after a god fight, which gives them time to "attune" to their new abilities. this could be an explanation for why rumi is not able to perform the raise dead spell until later on. perhaps the god of charisma does not have the ability to raise peter, which can cause further tension/anger between our godslayers and the remaining gods, OR rhymir can raise peter under the condition that he is not slain, which will cause tension/anger between thanatos and rumi. either way, excited to see how this plays out! i can't imagine this campaign's ending without peter, so i hope he returns sooner rather than later. my favorite peter sqloint moment gotta be when he casted magic for the first time. that was pretty recently, but the way charlie's/peter's face lit up when it worked made me happy for the rest of the day. i made a pact with myself that i would boycott slimecicle content until gillion was returned to jrwi: riptide, but after this i'm thinking about breaking that pact out of pity. this was really unfortunate.

my favourite peter moment was his conversation with rumi about whether they were doing the right thing. that showed so much growth and strength on his part - episode one peter would never have questioned rumi like that, and it was really nice to see him with some confidence for the first time. i relate a lot to peter (which i know implies some things about me but i swear i'm fine lol) and i don't think there has been any other fictional death which has gutted me so much as his. you all did such a great job in the episode. that being said, i almost wish rumi didn't get that new spell just so i could see them tear the earth apart to bring peter back. it would be cool to see more humanity and desperation coming from them. whatever happens, i'm sure y'all will deliver a satisfying ending to the campaign.

The way in which Rumi grieved was SO good. First of all, props to grizzly for really selling it, all the voice acting was full of emotion and I really heard it as Rumi crying, not Grizzly Voice Acting Rumi Crying, if that makes sense. Secondly how he responded, like at first not believing it, and then begging the sword to fix it and just... and trying to break it and throw it and sobbing and just breaking down. That's such a realistic as well as heartbreaking response. A really key thing that stood out to me was him asking Thanatos why this happened, because it's like him suddenly not being in control or knowing the answer. The imagery of his form rippling was a really good way to show how this identity he crafted is breaking apart (and also I could picture it so clearly bc it was a good description). I cried real tears at this and yet I'm honestly glad it happened. I relate to Rumi a lot, and I've been waiting for him to break so he could grow. I hope Peter's death shows him that he cannot be in control all the time, that he cannot fight for control all the time, that he has to learn how to be wrong and expect the unexpected and cry and be a human, not a god.

I just checked the actual math, and the chances of 1. Thanatos targeting Peter (1/3), 2. Biz rolling a nat 20 (1/20), and 3. Charlie rolling >11 on the con check, the chance of Thanatos insta-killing Peter is 00.83%, less than a single percentage chance

bro grizzly's acting as rumi absolutely gutted me this session. i hope he gives himself a pat on the back because it is *rare* that any kind of acting can get me to stop what im doing and just sit there, hand over mouth in shock, and his reaction to peter's death did that to me.
