Hey everyone! It's time for another Darkroom, so comment here with questions and discussion topics for the video. I'll also be doing a story reading, so let's see suggestions that can be read in about five minutes or so.

How do I know the story isn't too long?

Copy the text into Microsoft Word, set the font to Courier New 11-point size and do single spacing,. If the story is three pages long or less, it can be suggested.

I'll have the episode made towards the end of this week, so you guys have today, tomorrow, and I'd say at least a bit of Wednesday to comment with your questions and suggestions. Thank you!

Question: Thoughts on A Cure for Wellness if you've seen it? If I haven't, are you planning to? (Personally, I think it's great to see very smartly made big budget horror movies, even if the film was a little bit too long)

Cigni

Seeing some films like Lights and The Conjuring, I'm curious to what your thoughts are on the direction of James Wan and how he seems to have a pulse on the horror genre that's different from other horror directors.

Question: Is there any form of media you haven't covered/talked about yet on Night Mind that you'd like to?

Question: What are some of your favorite videogames and soundtracks?

I have 2 questions: 1. What do you think of ARGs that use a video game as part of the actual experience rather then for backstory? A good example of this would be the Lost Memory ARG and Jadusable's original plan for Arc 3.

2. What do you think of ARGs made by game devs that start via an event in the game/are used to promote one? Good examples of this include the Binding of Isaac Ultra Greed ARG, Ilovebees and the Arkahm Security ARG?

Question: Is there a chance you could give us an update on the plans for the Night Mind Storybook?

Brooke Butler

Question: I would just love to know your full thoughts on Caught Not Sleeping and why you're not a fan? if that's not too annoying to ask.

Question: I often find video games most disturbing or shocking when the game itself is inherently not scary such as the Skyrim Mannequin glitch or Doc Mitchel's head spinning in Fallout:NV. Do you also feel this and do you have any good examples?

Question: A common Lovecraft quote used by the horror community paraphrases the "Fear of the Unknown" as the strongest kind of fear, and extends this to imply that vagueness is always best for the genre. Do you actually think that the "fear of the unknown" is mandatory for all strong horror media, (such as Lovecraft's better work) or can knowing the threat you're up against be just as effective if done well? (I.E. John Carpenter's Halloween.)

What do you feel is a major reason a lot of amateur ARGs fail? What are your thoughts on the news that the next season of American Horror Story might be a dark spoof of the 2016 Election? I absolutely loved the bit of storytelling you did in the DHMIS Explained video where Mikey the Mic was attempting to break & corrupt you. It added a bit of extra story/character to you video, will you ever attempt anymore bits of "story" within any of your videos (similar to how Linkara does on Atop the Fourth Wall, if you've heard of him)?

Benjamin Falbo

My suggestion for Storybook is the story: Betsy the Doll. It is a sentence over the limit but I am hard pressed to think of a story that gave me as many chills as this one did. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :)

Suggestion :post mortem on the collaboration with Nyx, What worked well, what didn't, what you learned for next time. Feel free to add in stories from other collaborative efforts..

1) I'm bloody sure I've seen you mention liking the movie of 'The Wall'. Would you ever do a piece on it? I know it's not *strictly* horror but it's certainly distinct from the usual approach to narrative

Thomas David Ahern

Also, might as well make some story suggestions: Either "Where Bad Kids Go", a rather unnerving, short and sweet story, or SCP-1983, which is (for lack of a better expression) super Metal.

Maite Linares

You may or may not have heard of a Spanish movie called The Orphanage , it's a different kinda scary and rather interesting . If you ever have some time consider watching it .

Question: How closely are tension and horror related? What separates a suspenseful piece of fiction from a scary one? For instance, American Sniper (which, I acknowledge, is primarily non-fictive) is not a horror film by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a very tense one; to what degree could we say our horror at the situation is creating tension? What about vice versa--the tension of warfare creating horrifying scenarios?
