This Commodore 128 has a crazy backstory! 🤯 It was sent out for a “professional” repair… but the owner immediately knew something was off and sure enough, inside I found badly re-soldered capacitors, scratched boards, blown caps and power supplies put back together wrong! Luckily it works now! Can you spot the Star Wars Easter egg this time?😆

Love the PacMan scrolls in between sections 😆 You do right to check those capacitors before plugging them in. Well done, Sayaka! Also, what is the "Floppy Elite" category (credits)?

Really good video, Sayaka! Good vibes, great video footage, excellent video editing, really good effects! 👌

Thanks so much! That Pac-Man section actually took a long time, I found individual PNGs of the characters and put them together to create the scrolling effect(DaVinci Resolve makes it really easy) Out of curiosity I even tried doing it with ChatGPT, but the results were really bad haha! Floppy Elite is the YouTube membership 🙂 I split the sections to make it easier for people to find their names in the credits

Sam Meek

Ah, gotcha! I am actually a member on YouTube too ☺️

Sayaka's Digital Attic

In the Floppy Elite level? I’ll check again! I thought I had included the whole list

Sam Meek

Sorry, I checked again, I was Retro Crew. I have upgraded. I was mistaken, as I had a Floppy disk next to my username ☺️

Sayaka's Digital Attic

Oh gotcha, no worries at all! Thanks so much for upgrading ☺️ the badge actually shows how long you’ve been a member, the floppy means 1 year :O That’s amazing, thank you! I’ll make sure to add you to the list!

Cam

may the force be with you too Sayaka! Another great vid.... poor spider!

Sam Meek

Silly me 😆 I only realised after checking. No harm, no foul 😂 Just keep doing what you do ☺️

Sayaka's Digital Attic

Thanks! I feel sorry for those little bugs when I find them in consoles/computers too 😅

Man I wish recapping my Xbox 360 was this easy. GND pins near heatsinks were a special b*tch to desolder. I got flashbacks watching you do it 😅 Great attention to detail, great production, great shirt - you seem more confident with every day 😁

I only just got to this video now, I was interested in there being another mode of operating system and what the difference is. The older computers all had such low RAM is of interest to me as you might fill it up easily.

Power Puffgirls 👍😂

Sayaka's Digital Attic

Thanks a lot! 😅 Yeah 360 boards are a whole different beast compared to what I worked on here. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Capacitor wasteland out there. Be cautious!

Hello Sayaka, As demonstrated in your videos you are very skilled with using desoldering braid in your repairs. I am curious if you have ever used a vacuum desoldering tool / station and if so what you think of them?

Sayaka's Digital Attic

Thank you so much! You can actually spot a desoldering station in the background of some of my videos, but I still prefer using braid. It just feels more precise to me!
