I recently got a Commodore 64 from a subscriber and it arrived already opened and poorly repaired 😥🔧 The board is actually broken, with missing PCB sections, lifted traces, bad solder joints and a badly reinstalled 6526!

Hi Sayaka, that must be your most challenging repair yet, well done! PS If you ever decide to produce merch the slogan has to be "It works!"

Wow-I think I would have PASSED on that one!! lol. That was a great idea printing the tray to help align the parts! I also liked the bead of resin to repair it-Great idea!! You really do dive way deeper than I on repairs! Bravo on another job well done!!

Thank you! Sometimes these repairs look worse than they really are. The printed tray and the resin just made the job cleaner and more reliable. I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed the approach! 🙂

Frankly, I am amazed there weren't more components damaged by the bad repair job. I first thought you would have to replace more chips. Though the short on the power switch could have blown the fuse of the power supply brick, when the previous person tried to turn it on. That would have prevented further damage to the rest of the board. Great job Sayaka!
