Greeting Hellknights! We have a little surprise for you, a little pre-Christmas present. The Illrigger Revised is attached to the original Illrigger Patreon post and available in the MCDM Shop.

We originally released the Illrigger, our first custom class, waaay back in April of 2021. Which seems like 40 years ago and also somehow last year.

We worked really hard on that class! But! That was back when MCDM was smaller and the products tended to be more raw and idiosyncratic and, frankly, weird. Some people liked how weird it was! Some people never noticed how weird it was! A lot of it is down to how your table plays.

But, take my word for it, it was super weird. And a lot of people said so!

We watched those conversations, did a lot of digging to understand what people didn’t like, why, what they DID like, and meanwhile the company was growing, we have MUCH better testing now, and a large network of designers we like working with.

So! We decided to revise the Illrigger and…this is that! It’s a major overhaul but one of our main goals was keeping the spirit of the design and the flavor of the class intact and…I think we did that!

A lot of people worked on this, including our testers, but the driving intelligence behind this was Sadie Lowry who enthusiastically took on the task of revising The Order of Desolation and bashing it into shape. She knocked it out of the park, our testers pounded on it, we revised, iterated, tested. Sadie shepherded the class through all the testing and revisions until it was good.

It is now good. We think! 😀

Along the way we added two more subclasses. The Hellspeaker, who’s silver tongue makes them a master manipulator, and the Sanguine Knight who uses forbidden blood magics to work their nefarious plans.

We had two new subclasses, so we needed more art, and we figured while we’re at it, let’s get a new cover from Patrik Hell, whose stuff is just ace and now…it’s all yours!

If you bought this on our store, or you’re a Patron, you just GET this new version free. The old version will still be available if people want it, we’re not taking it down. Lots of people are playing the old version and we do not intend to make their lives harder by scrubbing the old version of the class from the internet.

We love getting to make this stuff for you, we really do, and we hope you like this new, revised, ILLRIGGER.

Now, once again, go forth…and RAISE HELL!

Old Gold

The chaos that surrounds and the flying head the glowing eyes the artwork is unstoppable and thank you for the hard work!!

Matthew Reed

It's on the original Illrigger post, rather than here. Up in the body above, you'll see a place where "Patron" is hyperlinked near the end—that's the post. The revised Illrigger is attached there.

Realm Referee

Hmm. Linkage… came here because I bought it last time I didn’t see how to get the update. No link here either.

Aemorion

For those asking about the pdf, if you click on the word "Patron" it's a link to the old patreon post that has the old and revised versions both on there.

Kyle Fukui

It's with the files on the original illrigger release post, linked in this post

Joe G

Blasting Yngwie Malmsteen's "Disciples of Hell" to this! \m/

Matthew Reed

When I started reading this post, I honestly assumed that you'd be selling the updated version, given the new subclasses & art, as well as improved polish. And I actually think I wouldn't have minded, in this case. That you've released it for free to patrons is a wonderful gift, though. Thank you!! <3

Richard Hurst

"Revised_1.0" threw me off. I dismissed it, just looking at the "1.0." "2.0" would have helped.

Julian Pasto

I know the older version has foundry support will this be getting that as well?

Josh Williams

Hear, hear! You MCDMers are a solid bunch! Thank you for the early Yuletidings!

Luca Mita

In the old post I can only see "illrigger 1.0 pdf" as downloadable and it's a corrupt file. Is it just me? EDIT: apparently it’s a mobile problem. The file is present when browsing with an iPad though

Gabrielle

That hell speaker art is spine tingling, amazing quality as always

KyleDOT

I got the revised pdf looks awesome but don't see a character sheet like the beastheart and talent got. All good if there isn't one! just curious

The wording on Infernal Conduit suggests that a 20th level illrigger with one hit point could heal an ally for 10d10 hitpoints, suffer the same as damage and merely fall unconscious, not even risking death saves. I mean, that could make for a cool scene, but is that working as intended? Moloch's Blessing seems to grant expertise (in some cases) but is not phrased as such, do you intend for it to stack with expertise?

Daniel Johnson

Is there a "Update List" that shows what's been modified from the first version?

Lucas

Looks great! Love me some villainous adventurers. One note: in the 'mote of hell' spell description just mentions that "a creature that starts its turn in that area..." And "a creature that ends its turn in that area". This looks unintended, as this means you would be able to walk through the area without being affected. In the 'mote of hell' spell description of the deceiver (architect of ruin) retainer, the spell description uses "when a creature starts its turn in that area or enters it for the first time...". This wording makes more sense to me.

Christian Lange

This is so cool :D I really like how the Architect of Ruin turned out, and very nice with the sidepanel about that perticular design. Looking forward to playing one :)

Colin Lamb

Will the Foundry version be getting the revision updates as well?

Deya

is there any plan to push the revision to people who bought it on vtts?

Sir Darles Chickens

Having a little trouble finding the newest version. The one I got with the bundle when the Talent released was v2.4. The only thing I can find in the original post linked above is v1.0. Am I missing something or is it broken? And the post above doesn't actually say what the newest version is. If I already have it I'm not going to waste time looking for it and downloading it.

BasCB

That cover is so Amazing!

BasCB

The v2.4 is the last version of the original Illrigger, not the newly released Revised Illrigger so you will want to download it.

mcdm

There is no character sheet for the Illrigger, because it doesn't require the management of Strain or a companion. -James

Dan

I got an email, did you get one yet?

Clay

So sick, incredible cover! Echoing the desire for a changelog. (or a quick video would be fun!)

BrambleBrew

Hell yes! I'm planning on a battle between a unified hell and a cult that seeks to resurrect a dark god for control of my homebrew world and an Illrigger will be a perfect herald!

I prefer to use TTS to "read" long things and this PDF required a lot of work to get it to read write. I usually just have to put lines together but this one had every period, every ellipsis and even some quotation marks put on a different line. Is there a way to fix it?

Vivian B.

On Foul Interchange for the Sanguine Knight it mentions the dazed condition but that's not a condition in 5e. is this something I just didn't notice in another of your products?

Blaine Hewett

Dazed is on page 1 of Flee Mortals. Basically you can only take an action, a bonus action, OR move. It's like a powerful version of Tasha's Mind Whip. Does feel like an oversight to not include the definition of Dazed in the revised illrigger PDF, but it doesn't look like the Illrigger can apply dazed, so probably just a small miss. More or less when fighting Flee Mortals monsters, Illriggers can end the dazed condition that some of them can apply.

Spencer Aurand

I can't see the revised Illriger attachment on the original post.

AhrBee

It's at the bottom, under the hello@ link, there is the original Illrigger v1.0, then the revised 1.0 in both regular and greyscale

jason blawas

it is weird that the old illrigger version i have is 2.4 but then they switched back to 1.0. like shouldnt it be 3.0
